Big Data is a huge phenomenon of last days. Number of applications using this concept is still increasing and area of implementation is still wider and wider. There are different examples such as transport, health-care, industry or education. This work covers just the field of education or universitys environment. Purpose of this work is to identify Big Data sources from universitys environment and also design of procedure how to work with them. Paper also shows possible using concept of Big Data, but does not show what types of analyses should be performed to improve education process. It means that the main benefit of this work is design of architecture for this problem from the technical perspective. In addition, there are some specific software applications that can be deployed to solve this problem.

Innovative approaches in the field of information technology gets easily inside automation and creates better platform for integration and cooperation of information and control systems (ICS) components. This innovations lead to the ability of ICS for automatic agile reconfiguration, according to market requirements. To implement this ability has become SOA (service orientated architecture) a part of ICS. This paper deals about SOA with the meaning of communication and integration facility in SCADA/HMI (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition / Human-Machine Interface) for remote control through mobile devices. Mobile devices integrate big potential for increasing the agility of ICS and can be involved into SOA. Main contribution is increasing agility of ICS with remote control via mobile devices and SOA.

Supervisory control system represents a central unifying part of information and control system of industrial plant processes. Particularly at present, supervisory control applications even allocates a big share of factory software investments. The fundamental goal of projecting supervisory application is to establish stable and fast communication with technological process level to obtain data from processes and to design visualization screens in a suitable form to ensure readily visible information and control functions of processes in a plant. That is realized by visualization screens developed using graphical objects from different fields of industries which gives system builders much more effective tools for designing of visualization application and better visibility of process elements on screen. It is very closely related to trend objects used in visualization as monitoring components. This article presents concept of trend objects used in visualization screens of supervisory control application using software products from Wonderware Corp.

Growing amounts of data will be one of consequences in Industry 4.0. This paper deals about mining frequent patterns and important factors in data. Classification is one of the most common assignments in data analytics. We used letter recognition data from the UCI repository as data set for our experiment. Data set contains more than 20000 instances of 26 classes. In our case, it represents multi-class classification. This idea can be transformed into industrial environment. Deep learning is a new area of machine learning research. We decided to use Deep learning from open source H2O machine learning framework and compare it with four multi-class classification algorithms available as services on Microsoft Azure. We are focusing this idea on Industrial systems, cloud architecture and data analytics, which will be fundamental pillars of Industry 4.0.

Wide range of software from business intelligence (BI) category are used in almost every big company. They allow users to create various reports and analyses. BI idea was primary used for business data, but now many companies like Wonderware, Rockwell are offering solutions for manufacturing data, so new form of intelligence was formed. It is called Manufacturing intelligence or Enterprise intelligence. This paper deals with idea that normal Business intelligence solutions can be used for basic reporting of manufacturing data that covers wide range of user needs. We used data from the biggest private employer in Slovakia, U.S. Steel in Kosice, and BI solutions named Cognos from IBM and second from Oracle. Results was presented management aimed on new IT solutions.

Industrial companies look for the best way to be perfectly optimized, failure resistant, how to handle increasing amounts of information, and have more open and reliable union with their customers and suppliers. This paper focuses on the improvement of industry performance through the integration of SCADA/HMI (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition/Human Machine Interface), SOA (Serviced Oriented Architecture) and cloud computing. This paper’s contribution is in a failover and high availability solution for small and medium industry companies. The contribution is based on the integration of the cloud and SCADA/HMI, and contains a developed SOA load balancer for better accessibility to the cloud. This whole solution improves performance, reliability and availability. It is cost-effective and includes a mobile device implementation for controlling and monitoring systems.

New approaches and technologies like Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing and Big Data are giving rise to another industrial revolution. We propose here an implementation of an industrial gateway architecture adopting the idea of IoT, intelligent methods, Machine-to-Machine and Cyber-Physical Systems. The proposed gateway creates a virtual representation of the physical world scanning the technological layer’s devices in real time. It creates a uniform communication interface for the heterogeneous technological layer, enables self-management of devices, diagnostics and self-reconfiguration to improve Quality of Service aided with cloud SCADA and MES services. We have tested the proposed gateway in an experimental setup with a programmable logic controller.

This paper was written based on experience with teaching subjects on control systems and industrial automation at technical universities. The paper presents proven methods on how to organize and moderate an educational process with an active participation of students during theoretical and practical work over the web. Such an approach does not limit the number nor the location of participants-students, teachers or consultant workers. The international and multicultural dimension is also the most challenging one, since the cooperation can be worldwide. The work with students requires a continuous development of syllabi, since the evolution and adaptation to the changing world is continuous too. The system is open to all the participants and the nature of all of the parties involved in the system can be corporate, scientific, social or educational. The software tools used for the area of supervisory control are presented in the paper, as well as ways on how to promote this work so that new members can use it.

This article describes the design, comparison and evaluation of predictive models from the area of monitoring data on the basis of CRISP-DM and RadpidMiner technology, for the purpose of improving IT processes in the company. These models have been created on a sample of real data from the monitoring of IT systems in one of the largest companies in Slovakia. Article defines the detailed description and evaluation of created models, which represents only one phase of this research. This means that the other phases are only mentioned - understanding and editing of data, visualization and statistical analysis, along with modeling process itself. Predictive models generated by linear regression and ARIMA models are described in detail in this article. These models achieved during research are a huge benefit for companies, since they can predict the future value of individual transactions, and thus take the necessary measures to make the right decisions in order to improve quality of services.

Humans need to communicate with the society. If the society is a group of machines, there should be a language that creates a human-machine interface. This interface uses technological sources to communicate with humans. One way to realize an independent human-machine interface is service-oriented architecture (SOA). Services are realized on server and create an independent interface for clients. A client may then be a smart phone, tablet or PC. How the human-machine interface is presented only depends on the technical realization of the client and the functionality of the device. One of the most important things in a human-machine interface is alarms. Alarms directly involve a human user in processes which cannot be understood easily.
