The paper analyses the dynamics of the observation and tracking head located on an off-road vehicle. The influence of kinematic forces deriving from the vehicle performing off-road assault courses was studied. Certain results of computer simulation studies have been presented in a graphic form.

Today’s self-propelled anti-aircraft missile systems are designed to intercept low-flying, manoeuvring targets not only under any weather conditions but also during movement of the carrier vehicle over rough terrain. As target search and tracking need to be reliable, i.e. not affected by unfavorable conditions, a self-propelled surface-to-air missile system requires suitable stabilization and control systems. This implies that it is necessary to develop an adequate mathematical model of the missile system dynamics. In this article, we propose a procedure for experimental design to determine the coefficients of such a model. Particular attention is paid to the algorithm for selecting optimal controls and a time-dependent measurement spectrum to minimize the assumed criterion of quality.

This paper presents the problem of control of anti-aircraft missile launcher mounted on a moving carrier-vehicle. Direct excitations on the vehicle from the road cause adverse vibrations of the launcher. In order to increase the precision of the guiding system in the conditions of self-propelled movement of the setup on a bumpy road, the adaptive control algorithm was proposed. Some research results of computer simulation are presented in a graphical form.

Abstract At present, remotely controlled modules of weaponry are becoming the basic equipment of modern army. The device for searching and observing air targets is one of the most significant elements of a weapon module. The device of that type in the form of the scanning and tracking gyroscope system is considered in the article. The process of automatic search of a target is carried out during the movement of a combat vehicle as well as during its manoeuvres. After a target is detected, it is tracked till it has been destroyed by the fired missile. The algorithm of control of the scanning and tracking gyroscope system, mounted on the deck of a combat vehicle, was developed. The optimized, classic PD controller, fuzzy controller PD type, fuzzy controller PID type and adaptive fuzzy controller were designed. Numerical research of the dynamics of the controlled gyroscope system and the assessment of the quality of control were conducted. The results of research are presented in a graphical form.

The paper presents the kinematics of mutual movement of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and a ground target. The controlled observation and tracking head (OTH) is a device responsible for observing the ground, searching for a ground target, and tracking it. The preprogrammed movement of the UAV on the circle with the simultaneous movement of the head axis on Archimedes’ spiral during searching for a ground target, both fixed (bunkers, rocket missiles launching positions, etc.) and movable (tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, etc.), is considered. Dynamics of OTH during the performance of the above mentioned activities is examined. Some research results are presented in a graphical form.

The Observation and Tracking Head is used for automatic searching, observing and tracking targets that are to be destroyed. The paper presents the designed fuzzy controller used to control the location of head axis. The dynamics of the controlled head during the search and tracking of the target was analysed. The results of numerical research are presented in a graphical form.
