Social Emotional Model

J. A. Rincon; Vicente Julián; Carlos Carrascosa

This article aims to give a first approach of an emotional model, which allows to extract the social emotion of a group of intelligent entities. The emotional model PAD allows to represent the emotion of an intelligent entity in 3-D space, allowing the representation of different emotional states. The social emotional model presented in this paper uses individual emotions of each one of the entities, which are represented in the emotional space PAD. Using a social emotional model within intelligent entities allows the creation of more real simulations, in which emotional states can influence decision-making. The result of this social emotional mode is represented by a series of examples, which are intended to represent a number of situations in which the emotions of each individual modify the emotion of the group.

Developing Adaptive Agents Situated in Intelligent Virtual Environments

J. A. Rincon; Emilia Garcia; Vicente Julián; Carlos Carrascosa

This paper presents a framework specially designed for the execution and adaptation of Intelligent Virtual Environments. This framework, called JACALIVE, facilitates the development of this kind of environments managing in an efficient and realistic way the evolution of parameters for the adaptation of the physical world. The framework includes a design method and a physical simulator which is in charge of giving the Intelligent Virtual Environment the look of the real or physical world, allowing to simulate physical phenomena such as gravity or collision detection. The paper also includes a case study which illustrates the use of the proposed framework.

Extending MAM5 Meta-Model and JaCalIV E Framework to Integrate Smart Devices from Real Environments

J. A. Rincon; Jose-Luis Poza-Lujan; Vicente Julián; Juan-Luis Posadas-Yagüe; Carlos Carrascosa

This paper presents the extension of a meta-model (MAM5) and a framework based on the model (JaCalIVE) for developing intelligent virtual environments. The goal of this extension is to develop augmented mirror worlds that represent a real and virtual world coupled, so that the virtual world not only reflects the real one, but also complements it. A new component called a smart resource artifact, that enables modelling and developing devices to access the real physical world, and a human in the loop agent to place a human in the system have been included in the meta-model and framework. The proposed extension of MAM5 has been tested by simulating a light control system where agents can access both virtual and real sensor/actuators through the smart resources developed. The results show that the use of real environment interactive elements (smart resource artifacts) in agent-based simulations allows to minimize the error between simulated and real system.

Using emotions for the development of human-agent societies Project supported by the Ministerio de Economia y Competitividad of the Spanish Government and the European Regional Development Fund of the European Union (No. TIN2015-65515-C4-1-R) A preliminary version was presented at the 13th International Conference on Practical Applications of Agents and Multi-Agent Systems, June 3–4, 2015, Spain

Human-agent societies refer to applications where virtual agents and humans coexist and interact transparently into a fully integrated environment. One of the most important aspects in this kind of applications is including emotional states of the agents (humans or not) in the decision-making process. In this sense, this paper presents the applicability of the JaCalIVE (Jason Cartago implemented intelligent virtual environment) framework for developing this kind of society. Specifically, the paper presents an ambient intelligence application where humans are immersed into a system that extracts and analyzes the emotional state of a human group. A social emotional model is employed to try to maximize the welfare of those humans by playing the most appropriate music in every moment.

An Emotional-Based Hybrid Application for Human-Agent Societies

J. A. Rincon; Vicente Julián; Carlos Carrascosa

The purpose of this paper is to present an emotional-based application for human-agent societies. This kind of applications are those where virtual agents and humans coexist and interact transparently into a fully integrated environment. Specifically, the paper presents an application where humans are immersed into a system that extracts and analyzes the emotional states of a human group trying to maximize the welfare of that humans by playing the most appropriate music in every moment. This system can be used not only online, calculating the emotional reaction of people in the bar to a new song, but also in simulation, to predict the people’s reaction to changes in music or in the bar layout.

Representing Social Emotions in MAS

J. A. Rincon; Vicente Julián; Carlos Carrascosa

This article aims to give an approach of a social emotional model, which allows to extract, calculate, represent and manage the social emotion of a group of intelligent entities. The emotional model is based on the PAD model allowing the representation of the emotion of a group of intelligent entities in a 3-D space. The social emotional model presented in this paper uses individual emotions of each one of the entities, which are represented in the emotional space PAD. The social emotional model allows the creation of simulations, in which the emotional states are used in the decision-making of the intelligent entities.

Developing Intelligent Virtual Environments Using MAM5 Meta-Model

J. A. Rincon; Carlos Carrascosa; Emilia Garcia

An IVE (Intelligent Virtual Environment) is a virtual environment simulating a physical (or real) world, inhabited by autonomous intelligent entities[2]. Today, this kind of applications are between the most demanded ones, not only as being the key for multi-user games such as World Of Warcraft (with more than 7 million of users in 2013) but also for inmersive social networks such as Second Life (with 36 million accounts created in its 10 years of history). It is in the development of these huge IVEs where the need of a quick and easy-to-use modelling toolkit arises.

Using Non-invasive Wearables for Detecting Emotions with Intelligent Agents

J. A. Rincon; Ângelo Costa; Paulo Novais; Vicente Julián; Carlos Carrascosa

This paper proposes the use of intelligent wristbands for the automatic detection of emotional states in order to develop an application which allows to extract, analyze, represent and manage the social emotion of a group of entities. Nowadays, the detection of the joined emotion of an heterogeneous group of people is still an open issue. Most of the existing approaches are centered in the emotion detection and management of a single entity. Concretely, the application tries to detect how music can influence in a positive or negative way over individuals’ emotional states. The main goal of the proposed system is to play music that encourages the increase of happiness of the overall patrons.
