Pulse spray thrombolysis (PST) is a new technique of accelerated intra-arterial thrombolysis. The systemic fibrinolytic effect of PST with tissue-type plasminogen activator (t-PA) has been studied on 10 patients after they received 10 mg t-PA. A moderate systemic fibrinolytic effect was observed but this was not significantly different from the effect seen in another group of 32 patients treated with continuous slow infusion of 10 mg t-PA intra-arterially over 20 hours.
