The staff of the Journal ofLearning Disabilities is pleased to introduce in this issue the first in a series of articles on acquired cerebral trauma. The prominent role that acquired cerebral trauma has played in the history of the field of learning disabilities, as well as in current developments, makes this series especially relevant and timely. A brief overview of particular aspects of the history of the field and a discussion of some current developments follow. In addition, the guest editor of the series, Dr. Erin Bigler, is introduced.
