Hemophilia hometransfusion program: Effect on school attendance

Jack Lazerson

T H E O R O A N I Z A T I O N Of a comprehensive care unit and the development of a home transfusion program have allowed us to give long-term management to children with hemophilia and to collect prospective data regarding the effectiveness of such a program? Rabiner and Teller 2 have provided information concerning the efficacy of home transfusion, and Cooke and associates a have reported on the effectiveness of cryoprecipitate transfusion prophylaxis in decreasing hospitalization as well as in improving school performance and attendance. The present report documents the effectiveness of the comprehensive care and home troatment program using cryoprecipitate in improving school attendance.

The Prophylactic Approach to Hemophilia A

Jack Lazerson

Cryoprecipitated factor vm has made a home care program for both prophylactic and symptomatic treatment of hemophilia entirely feasible, the experience of a pioneer coordinating center shows. Even young children can be trained to infuse themselves with almost no trauma and hematoma formation. Parental participation in obtaining blood donations has reduced the costs to minimal levels.

Mesenteric hemangioendothelioma with thrombocytopenia. Report with arteriographic findings

Ronald C. Hansen; Ronald A. Castellino; Jack Lazerson; And John Probert

A surgically nonresectable mesenteric hemangioendothelioma was diagnosed at exploratory laparotomy in a 7‐month‐old female. Thrombocytopenia and red cell microangiopathic changes were present. Arteriography was employed to delineate the extent of the tumor mass prior to therapy with irradiation and prednisone. The tumors resolution was confirmed by follow‐up arteriographic studies and was accompanied by reversal of the hematologic abnormalities.
