SummaryThe recovery by aspirin and antibiotic drugs of a case of Periarteritis nodosa of unknown etiology and in which no hypersensitivity reaction could be suspected, led us to consider the relationship between the stress due to the disease, the urinary excretion of adrenal cortex steroids and the administration of aspirin. Though no definite answer can be given to this problem at the present time it however led us to consider the relation between the recovery of the patient, the adrenals secretion and the salicylate therapy.

SummaryCerebral haemorrhage the prognosis of which is commonly severe does not seem to benefit from haemostutics.Cerebral thrombosis, vasospasm or thrombosis associated with vasospasm do not seem to heal up by acethylcholin. On the contrary heparin and a powerful vaso-dilator, intravenous nicotinic acid, appear to be able to improve, even to cure these vascular accidents, sometimes in a surprising way.Cerebral embolism can sometimes be improved by combined administration of nicotinic acid and of an anticoagulant. In order to confirm these conclusions of personal observation and to settle statistically the early treatment of hemiplegia, Roskam asks for his colleagues’ collaboration.

SummaryThe authors suggest for the treatment of acute rheumatic fever a therapeutic schedule including the early administration of corticoid drugs and salicylate. This form of therapy is based on the mode of action of the salicylate, on the advantages and drawbacks of the corticoid drugs, A.C.T.H. and salicylate and also on the necessity of suppressing the inflammatory manifestations of acute rheumatic fever. This is best obtained by inducing early, sufficient and sustained corticoid blood levels. This first step is followed by the administration of salicylate alone. The efficacity of both forms of treatment should be checked by clinical and biological tests. This therapy should also include the administration of moderate amounts of penicillin, sufficient to protect the patient against low grade infections, but unable to cure a complicating bacterial endocarditis.

Summary1) A very severe acute hepatitis rapidly cured with the help of cortisone prompts the authors to recommend this hormone as well as A.C.T.H. in the treatment of similar states.2) The behaviour of urinary reducing steroids in their patient during and after cortisone therapy is compared with the behaviour of these corticoids under A.C.T.H. and in some other diseases.

SummaryThe author describes a new pathologic pyramidal tract sign consisting in the « upgoing great toe » when the peroneal (fibular) muscles are pressed. It sometimes exists when the Babinski’s sign and its homologues are still negative.

SummaryStimulating the brain, dibenzylmethylamin or Revoxyl may be used with benefit or not in idiopathic narcolepsy - cataplexy or Gelineau’a syndrom. Its advantage consists in being probably devoided of vaso-pressor properties for man as it is the case for animal.
