Intraosseous lipoma of the great toe

Abstract We report one case of intraosseous lipoma of the proximal phalanx of the great toe, which to our knowledge is the first documented of intraosseous lipoma in the phalangeal bone. A 37-year-old man had no complaint in the great toe, but a cystic lesion in the great toe was incidentally found when the toe was checked for pain after a minor trauma. The cystic lesion was managed by intralesional excision only, because the lesion was small in size. Microscopic findings showed this to be an intraosseous lipoma. There has been no evidence of recurrence at 16 months postoperatively.
