We have simulated the time evolution of relative crystallization of PEEK at various cooling rates (10, 15, 20 °C/min) and made comparison with the experiments. The simulation was conducted using Nakamura model which is a modified Avrami model. The model is a 1u2005cm radius of circle with the cooling plate which was placed in the upper part of the circle. The cooling plate temperature was varied in order to obtain particular cooling rates. The measurement point is located near upper boundary in order to minimize the heat transfer effect. The general trend of time evolution of crystallization was well captured although some discrepancies occured. These discrepancies may be attributed to the heat transfer effect and secondary crystallization. We have simulated the time evolution of relative crystallization of PEEK at various cooling rates (10, 15, 20 °C/min) and made comparison with the experiments. Impact Polypropylene Copolymer (IPC) is one of the PP type which is widely used. IPC was made with addition of ethylene in PP which decreases PP crystallinity. Many efforts have been made to improve the properties of PP crystallinity by addition of nucleating agents. In this study, we use Arenga Pinnata “Ijuk” fiber as PP nucleating agent. In order to determine the effect of “Ijuk” fiber as nucleating agents in kinetics aspect, we used DSC measurement based on Avrami equation. The results showed that the addition of ijuk decreases crystallizationhalf timeand dimension of crystal growth which indicate the effects of “Ijuk” fiber as a nucleating agent.

Mesoporous SBA-15 has been successfully synthesized at various concentration of Pluronic 123 surfactant (7mM, 50 mM, 54 mM, 60 mM and 66 mM) and the effect of these various concentrations on the N2 adsorption capacity has been investigated. The adsorption analysis was conducted using Dubinin-Astakhov isotherm model for multilayer adsorption phenomenon. It was found that etryat low concentration of Pluronic 123, the system exhibits type I adsorption isotherm while at high concentration, the system exhibits type IV adsorption with H1 hysteresis curve which indicates the existence of pores with cylindrical geometry, relatively uniform pore size and possibility of pore network effects. It also was found that, by using D-A isotherm model fitting, at 60 mM concentration of Pluronic 123, SBA-15 has the highest adsorption capacity which stands at 421 cm3/gram.

The effect of various coating layers on the skin effect formation in thin-walled ductile iron casting with glass wool heat insulator has been investigated. Graphite, MgO, Zr, Zrxa0+xa0graphite, MgOxa0+xa0graphite coating layers have been used. We observed that the different coating layers can be used to control cooling rate. Higher heat conductivity coating layer yields lower cooling rate, while lower heat conductivity yields higher cooling rate. The use of double layer can further increase cooling rate which was observed for Zrxa0+xa0graphite and MgOxa0+xa0graphite double coating layers. These may only be applicable in our system. Higher cooling rate system produces a casting product that has thinner skin effect. The use of MgO layer yields lower skin effect thickness which stood at 52.27xa0µm.
