Aromatic fluorine chemistry. Part 4. Preparation of 2.6-difluoroaniline

R.G. Pews; James A Gall

Abstract The preparation of 2,6-difluoroaniline from 1,3,5-trichlorobenzene is described. 1-Chloro-3,5-difluorobenzene prepared via KF exchange on 1,3,5-trichlorobenzene is dichlorinated and nitrated in a single reactor to a mixture of trichlorodifluoronitrobenzenes. The latter are reduced to ∼4:1 isomeric mixture of 2,6-difluoroaniline and 2,4-difluoroaniline.

Journal of Fluorine Chemistry | 1990

Aromatic fluorine chemistry. Part 1. 3,4-Difluorobenzoic acid and derivatives via 3,4-difluorobenzotrifluoride

R.G. Pews; James A Gall; J.C. Little

Abstract The preparation of 3,4-difluorobenzotrifluoride from 3-4-dichlorobenzotrifluoride by a KF exchange reaction is described. The conversion of 3,4-difluorobenzotrifluoride to 3,4-difluorobenzoic acid and derivatives is also reported.

Aromatic fluorine chemistry. Part 3. Preparation of fluorophenols via hydrolysis of chlorofluorobenzenes

R.G. Pews; James A Gall

Abstract The 1,2-, 1,3-, and 1,4-fluorophenols have been prepared by a copper (e.g. CuO, CuSO 4 ) catalyzed hydrolysis of chlorofluorobenzenes under conditions of controlled pH.

Aromatic fluorine chemistry. Part 5. Preparation of 2,6-difluoroaniline and 1,2-difluorobenzene

R. Garth Pews; James A Gall

Abstract The preparation of 2,6-difluoroaniline and 1,2-difluorobenzene from 1,2,3- trichlorobenzene is described. An isomeric mixture of 1-chloro-2,3-difluorobenzene and 2-chloro-1,3-difluorobenzene is obtained from KF exchange on 1,2,3- trichlorobenzene. Selective dechlorination of 1-chloro-2,3-difluorobenzene with H2 and Pd/C catalyst gives 1,2-difluorobenzene. 2,6-Difluoroaniline is obtained via ammonolysis of 2-chloro-1,3-difluorobenzene.

Journal of Fluorine Chemistry | 1990

Aromatic fluorine chemistry. Part 2. Preparation of chlorofluorobenzenes via fluorination of dichlorobenzenes with KF

R.G. Pews; James A Gall

Abstract The 1,2-, 1,3- and 1,4-chlorofluorobenzenes have been prepared via KF exchange on the corresponding dichlorobenzenes.
