Reference Case Study “Traffic Control Systems” for Comparison and Validation of Formal Specifications Using a Railway Model Demonstrator

Frank Hänsel; Jan Poliak; Roman Slovák; Eckehard Schnieder

As domain modelling has been identified as a key issue for putting formal specification techniques into engineering practice, two reference case studies were elaborated within the research programme “Integration of Software Specification Techniques for Applications in Engineering”. One of them, coming from the railway transportation control domain and using an example of a radio based level crossing control system, was developed at the Institute of Traffic Safety and Automation Engineering. A physical railway model demonstrator was designed and developed as a means of comparison and validation for the formal specifications coming from partners involved in the research program.

Methods and platforms for certification of satellite based localisation systems in transportation

Frank Hänsel; Jan Poliak; Uwe Becker; Eckehard Schnieder

The (satellite based) localisation will become more important for safety related applications, in future. Therefore, its certification will be mandatory. In this paper, an approach is described to be able to implement a certification (partly) independent of the specific domain of transportation (e.g. rail or road transportation). This affects both, the normative or methodical and the experimental dimension of such a process

Reference Measurement Platforms for Satellite Based Localisation in Ground Transportation

Matthias Hübner; Jan Poliak; Daniel Beisel; Uwe Becker; Eckehard Schnieder

For the introduction of satellite based localisation regarding safety related applications in transportation, the knowledge on the accuracy of the localisation system as well as its availability and reliability is very important. For the usage of those applications in the regular operation, some safety evaluations are required from the respective safety authority. These two aspects of system and application development are discussed for the field of ground transportation. According to this recent approaches for each one are presented using concepts of sensor data fusion and formal ontologies. KeywordsRoad transport, Satellite Navigation, Precision measurement

VEHICLE AUTONOMOUS LOCALISATION FOR SAFE RAILWAY APPLICATIONS

Uwe Becker; Frank Hänsel; Jörg May; Jan Poliak; Eckehard Schnieder

Abstract The present paper gives an overview to an innovative approach of a vehicle autonomous positioning system for railways, providing cost-efficient position information for particularly safety related systems, especially for protection systems on non-equipped secondary lines. The idea is fixed in the project “DemoOrt” that consists of developing a platform with an onboard and vehicle autonomous technology which also integrates and uses availability as well as innovative technologies where as the main focus is on satellite based positioning e.g. GALILEO.

PLATFORMS FOR QUALIFICATION OF POSITIONING SYSTEMS FOR GROUND TRANSPORTATION

Frank Hänsel; Jan Poliak; Michael Lux; Uwe Becker; Eckehard Schnieder

Abstract For new applications of assistance systems in ground transportation, the (accurate) position information will become more and more important as the scope of these systems stretches towards safety-relevance. For the qualification of this kind of applications, a reference measurement platform is needed. Procedures for the qualification process are relevant to be discussed as well. Some possible implementations are outlined in this paper.
