Novel luminescent samarium(III) chelates

Abstract A series of new stable, luminescent samarium(III) chelates were synthesized and their photophysical properties were measured. The iodoacetamido activated chelate coupled to a peptide was used in a caspase-3 assay.

Labeling of Oligopeptides with Luminescent Lanthanide(III) Chelates on Solid Phase

Synthesis of a building block based on 6,6’-(1H-pyrazole-1,3-diyl)bis(pyridine) (3) that allows introduction of photoluminescent lanthanide(III) chelates to the synthetic oligopeptides on solid phase using the standard Fmoc chemistry is described. Since the ligand based on (3) forms luminescent chelates with Eu, Sm, Tb and Dy ions, the ligand is highly useful for multiparametric homogenous assays simplifying considerably the preparation of chelates needed in these applications.
