Investigating the trends of average costs of corrective maintenance of public transport vehicles

Karol Andrzejczak; Jarosław Selech

Abstract This paper presents the results of the investigations of the trends of average costs incurred by manufacturers of public transport vehicles following the elimination of unplanned malfunctions under warranty. The developed research methodology utilizes a method of analysis of variance for validation of the following two hypotheses. The first hypothesis relates to the examination of the significance of differences between average costs of the elimination of a malfunction and the other relates to the examination of the significance of differences in the average number of malfunctions per single vehicle in the highlighted periods of operation. The hypotheses were conducted based on the operation data relating to the malfunctions of a fleet of trams used by a city transport operator.

Projekt stworzono z wykorzystaniem obliczeń matematycznych i w środowisku CAD. W artykule przytoczono podstawowe obliczenia wytrzymałościowe konstrukcji urządzenia. Główne założenia, które ono spełnia, to prostota obsługi i wysoka podatność naprawcza elementu, który podaje rurociąg. SŁOWA KLUCZOWE: drenaż, konstrukcja, model 3D, CAD

Computerization of Operation Process in Municipal Transport

Karol Andrzejczak; Marek Młyńczak; Jarosław Selech

Municipal transportation systems are complex, multi-object systems of required high reliability and safety level and on the other hand ensuring high level of quality and low cost of service. These requirements and limitations need reliable information for making reasonable decisions. Data stored in operational databases is getting more and more large and more complex for processing. Operators tend to use advanced information concerning daily usage, maintenance, reliability, costs, and many other aspects. Paper shows assumptions and framework of the information system oriented on municipal rail transportation system. There are shown and shortly described analytical methods supporting decision process and schematic structure of the system. The proposed information system links manufacturer and end-user (operator) for making decisions regarding vehicle improvement and decreasing operational costs. Database covers all available data derived from usage, maintenance, accidents and failures as well as natural environment. Novelty of the presented approach is linking data from various fields of operation (Man-Engineering-Environment) and sharing it among two opponents: manufacturer and operator. Processed information is used by manufacturer to optimize design and estimate warranty costs while transport operator uses Life Cycle Cost assessment to specify reasonable operation strategy.

The design and the analysis of the soil channel structure used to test the wear of working machine elements in the ground was presented. The assumptions that should be fulfilled by the soil channel and its 3D model were determined. MES analysis of the model showed that the soil channel elements fulfill the strength condition and the resulting stresses are reduced more than three times the permissible stress. In addition, it was found that displacements of structures in the X-axis may cause damage of the soil channel, so an additional reinforcement in the form of a beam will be attached to the actual object.
