The demographics and the legal and political characteristics of the French environment impact strongly on HR practices in France. Career management, recruitment, training and compensation are chosen in order to highlight some French specificities. An evaluation of the HR function indicates that it should move towards a strategic role. A move towards people management is also perceived. At the beginning of the 2000s, HRM in France exhibits five main trends summed up in this article.

Purpose – This paper aims to explore the power of one of the primary organizational stakeholders (shareholders) in the development of a corporate social performance (CSP) score. Few research works in the CSP empirical literature have studied the relationship between stakeholder power and CSP. Design/methodology/approach – Stakeholder theory is used as a theoretical framework to explain how shareholder voting power can influence the CSP level of French publicly listed companies. Stakeholder theory is tested through the operationalization of Ullmann’s (1985) three-dimensional model. Hypotheses related to shareholder voting power, strategic posture and financial performance are formulated through a literature review. A Data Envelopment Analysis approach was presented as a strong tool to measure CSP level. Multiple linear regressions were undertaken to test the hypotheses in a sample of 129 French companies between 2006 and 2007. Par un chasse-croise d’apports theoriques transdisciplinaires et d’exemplifications issues du terrain, cet article prospectif esquisse deux chantiers de recherche sur le management de la diversite a investir dans les annees futures. Le premier chantier a trait au depassement du totemisme de la norme, un defi de civilisation et un enjeu strategique pour les organisations souhaitant optimiser leur capital humain. La difficile integration professionnelle des jeunes a faible capital scolaire initial, qui constituent pourtant des viviers de talents, en est l’illustration.Le second chantier concerne l’elargissement de la responsabilite des organisations et l’extension du perimetre effectif des demarches de diversite et d’inclusion. La question des salaries-aidants interpelle les capacites analytiques et prospectives des entreprises et deconstruit une conception reductionniste de l’homme-au-travail.

La mise en œuvre de pratiques de management environnemental necessite aussi bien des changements dans des elements tangibles (p. ex., processus de production, acquisition de materiels, etc.) que des changements touchant les valeurs, les attitudes et la culture d’une organisation envers sa perception de l’environnement naturel. Cette recherche se propose d’analyser les relations entre les differentes cases composant le modele d’evaluation des projets de changement organisationnel dans un contexte d’agenda environnemental. A travers ce travail, nous souhaitons mettre a disposition aussi bien des managers que des chercheurs un systeme formel affiche comme un outil parametrique capable de mesurer, controler, et ameliorer les impacts decoulant de l’implementation et de l’institutionnalisation de projets de changement organisationnel
