BACKGROUND One of the basic prerequisites of efficient organizational management in health institutions is certainly monitoring and measuring satisfaction of employees and their commitment to the health institution in which they work. The aim of this article was to identify and test factors that may have a predictive effect on job satisfaction and organizational commitment. METHODS We conducted a cross-sectional study that included 1,337 nurses from Serbia. Data were analyzed by using exploratory factor analysis, multivariate regressions, and descriptive statistics. RESULTS The study identified three major factors of organizational commitment: affective commitment, disloyalty, and continuance commitment. The most important predictors of these factors were positive professional identification, extrinsic job satisfaction, and intrinsic job satisfaction (p < .0001). Predictors significantly affecting both job satisfaction and organizational commitment were identified as well; the most important of which was positive professional identification (p < .0001). CONCLUSIONS This study identified the main factors affecting job satisfaction and organizational commitment of nurses, which formed a good basis for the creation of organizational management policy and human resource management policy in health institutions in Serbia.

Abstract Employees’ satisfaction is one of the frequently analyzed subgroups of human attitudes connected to organizational environment. The authors’ aim is to study different categories of satisfaction or dissatisfaction of teachers in elementary schools in the Republic of Serbia, as a specific category of employees. The results of the research carried out have shown that teachers are dissatisfied with salaries, awards and benefits. The next category concerning the intensity of dissatisfaction is teachers’ dissatisfaction with operational procedures. On the other hand, teachers are mostly satisfied with the work they are doing, with their superiors, their colleagues and system of communicating within schools.

Applications of bio-stimulant Biocomplex 900 was studied in this paper in the production of tomato (Lycopersicon Essculentum Mill) seedling and the hybrid Belle was used. Indicators of growth and development were studied: mass of fresh root matter, stem and leaves, leaf area and the content of photosynthetic parameters in the leaf. A natural bio-stimulator was used in these studies as the ecological preparation, since it contains the seaweed Ascophyllum nodosum with high content of alginic acids, micro elements and amino acids. The application of this bio-stimulant showed very positive impact, compared to the control (untreated) variant and increased the values of almost all investigated parameters.

The objective of this study was to evaluate antifungal and antioxidant activities of vegetable extracts ( Capsicum annuum L. cv. Dora, cv. Strizanka, cv. Morava), grown in Serbia. Different experimental models have included the determination content of total phenolics, total flavonoids, antioxidant capacity and minimum inhibitory concentration of the extract. The phenolic composition of different extracts was determined by the high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method. The highest amounts of phenols and highest antioxidant capacity were found in the cultivar Dora extracts. The highest phenolic content has been shown in cultivar Strizanka ethanol extract. All of the extracts showed strong antimicrobial activity. On the basis of the results obtained, the extracts were found to serve as a potential source of natural antioxidants and antimicrobial due to their marked activity. The obtained results may be useful in the evaluation of new dietary and food products. Key words: High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), phenolic components, antimicrobial activity, antioxidant activity.
