Using formal concept analysis to visualize relationships of syndromes in traditional chinese medicine

Xulong Liu; Wenxue Hong; Jialin Song; Tao Zhang

Computer-aided syndrome differentiation is one of most active issues in how to digitize the Traditional Chinese Medicine. The main purpose of this paper is to show the use of Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) to visualize the dependencies of syndromes of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with Heart-Spleen syndrome serving as an example. First, the syndromes and syndrome factors are defined as the objects and attributes, then their concepts and the hierarchical relationships are described in mathematical language, finally their hierarchy is visualized by concept lattice. This approach may make syndromes knowledge clearer, and may make data mining of TCM more efficient.

Inquiring diagnosis of Traditional Chinese medicine is one of the basic methods for diagnosing disease. Inquiry can collect the most extensive clinical information of patient. It can get many of disease information which cant be got by any other method. This paper presents a complex system model for inquiring diagnosis based on the combination of formal concept analysis theory and Traditional Chinese medicine. Computerized inquiring diagnosis system gets scores of symptoms and syndrome elements through voice interactive way between human and the system. In accordance with principles of formal concept analysis, the system generates the name of syndrome (ZHENG) and the corresponding reference treatment advices. The preliminary experimental result shows that the inquiring diagnosis system is effective and feasible.

On the basis of the theory of formal concept analysis (FCA), we proposed a new method based on hierarchical optimization formal context for generating attribute hierarchical graphs in this paper. By this method, we optimize the formal context of kidney disease, than build an attribute hierarchical graph, and discover the diagnosis knowledge in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at last. Finally, by combing former literature research we would like to show the availability and effectiveness of the proposed method.

This paper presents the design of compound-light physiotherapy apparatuses for gastrointestinal disease treatment. A contactless measuring temperature method based on infrared ray has been adopted in this paper, and designs a fuzzy control algorithm of body surface temperature. The result demonstrated that the fuzzy controller can keep the celerity of response, and maintain a nice performance without steady state error and over-shoot. When parameters or structure are changed, the robustness and adaptability of the apparatuses has also been proved that it will be favorable.

Research on the meridian diagnostic system based on the measuring principle of the electrical properties of well, source and sea acupoints

Fengxiang Chang; Wenxue Hong; Jun Jing; Jialin Song; Chao Ma

Skin impedance at acupuncture points has been used as a diagnostic/therapeutic aid for more than 50 years. Electrical resistance at acupuncture points is normally smaller than that of the surrounding skin. The Well, Source and Sea points are representative in reflection of physiological and pathological states of the human body, according to the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Based on this, we proposed a meridian diagnostic system based on the electrical properties measurement of the Well, Source and Sea points. This paper firstly describes in detail the systems hardware and software designs, and then introduces the calculation methods of the characteristic parameters of the meridian. The visualization analysis results of the meridian data are given at last.

Research on the characteristics of composite light source pseudo-moxibustion medical apparatuses for digestive disease treatment

Jialin Song; Fengjie Fan; Wenxue Hong; Haibo Pan

Based on the researching characteristics of heat radiation of moxa, a design method is presented that pseudo-moxibustion medical apparatuses for gastrointestinal diseases treatment. The heat radiation spectrums of moxa measured by applying three kinds of grating-spectrometer is presented in this paper, the result shows that the light spectrum with high medical value ranges from 600nm to 6μm. So tungsten-halogen lamp with wide spectral range is used as light source. The output power of light source has been controlled through adjust the duty cycle of control signal, and this changes the transmitted peak wavelength and stimulating frequency.
