Route Choice in Subway Station during Morning Peak Hours: A Case of Guangzhou Subway

Jie Xu; Yao Ning; Heng Wei; Wei Xie; Jianyuan Guo; Limin Jia; Yong Qin

This paper is aimed at crowding phenomenon in the subway. As passengers are inclined to choose the route with minimum disutility, we put forward a route choice model which is constructed to achieve minimum objective function of feasibility for the optimal solution. Meanwhile we set passenger volume threshold values according to capacity of facilities. In the case of actual capacity exceeding the threshold, the decision node of constrained route will be selected; computing procedure about searching decision points will be presented. Then we should set rational restrictions at the decision node of the minimum utility function route to prevent too many passengers’ access to platform. Through certification, this series of methods can effectively ensure the safety of the station efficient operation.

Cooperative Passenger Inflow Control in Urban Mass Transit Network with Constraint on Capacity of Station

Jianyuan Guo; Limin Jia; Yong Qin; Huijuan Zhou

In urban mass transit network, when passengers’ trip demands exceed capacity of transport, the numbers of passengers accumulating in the original or transfer stations always exceed the safety limitation of those stations. It is necessary to control passenger inflow of stations to assure the safety of stations and the efficiency of passengers. We define time of delay (TD) to evaluate inflow control solutions, which is the sum of waiting time outside of stations caused by inflow control and extra waiting time on platform waiting for next coming train because of insufficient capacity of first coming train. We build a model about cooperative passenger inflow control in the whole network (CPICN) with constraint on capacity of station. The objective of CPICN is to minimize the average time of delay (ATD) and maximum time of delay (MTD). Particle swarm optimization for constrained optimization problem is used to find the optimal solution. The numeral experiments are carried out to prove the feasibility and efficiency of the model proposed in this paper.

Risk Theory-Based Safety Evaluation of Passengers in Rail Transit Station

Yunxiao Zheng; Yong Qin; Jianyuan Guo; Limin Jia; Jianghua Gao

Station passenger flow safety status is analyzed based on risk theory and a transit station, XI’ERQI Station, is analyzed in this paper. Station passenger flow safety status is an important part of station safety status. The results indicate that the safety of passenger flow of a rail transit station is mainly determined by both the occurrence probability and the influence degree of passenger flow. Comprehensive passenger density and passenger evacuation time are chosen as the key indices for safety evaluation of the rail transit station. Combining fuzzy theory with fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method, a fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model based on passenger flow density and evacuation time is established, which is used to identify and analyze the overall safety level of a rail transit station. The results produced from the proposed model can provide useful information for preparation of the early warning of a rail transit station, and the passenger safety assurance.

Path Choice for Passengers of Subway Station During Peak Hour

Xiaomin Xin; Jie Xu; Jianyuan Guo; Limin Jia; Yong Qin; Yashu Kang

Urban railway is used widely because of its big capacity, little pollution, safety, and speediness. The volume of passengers is still increasing constantly and subways become overcrowd. In particular in the morning and evening peak period, the number of passengers increased sharply, accidents may happen easily, for example congestion and trample. In order to guarantee the safety of passengers and the efficient operation of the train, to improve the quality of urban railway service, some measures should be used to control the passenger flow in large stations, especially in transfer stations. This paper analyzes the characteristics of urban railway transfer station and discusses deeply about the principles of passengers’ path, then put forward the model of passenger flow control on peak through analyzing the model of passenger path.

The Design and Realization of Urban Mass Information Publishing System

Kai Yan; Limin Jia; Jie Xu; Jianyuan Guo

With the advocating of the low-carbon traffic and transportation concept, more and more urban residents choose urban mass as their main travel mode every day. At the same time, development in urban mass transit impels mass lines to a complicated mass network. Based on the urban mass network, this paper aims to discuss how to design and realize an Urban Mass Information Publishing System to mainly publish passenger flow guidance information including urban mass network state information, passenger flow controlling information, operation situation information of first and last train, emergency information, etc. According to the analysis of system business requirements, the system architecture is divided in three layers: presentation layer, business service layer and data layer. The function architecture is also designed based on the requirement analysis. Then we design the business flow and data organization of the system. Finally a demo system is realized as a case application.

Yashu Kang; Jie Xu; Limin Jia; Jianyuan Guo; Xin Zhang

The current situation is that metro system is getting more and more crowded and that passenger distribution and train operation plan are closely related. It is important to study urban rail transit station passenger distribution law, emergency evacuation capacity and emergency plans optimization to generate theories and methods. To ensure that if unexpected accidents happened, emergency plans applicable to the actual situation can be worked out, this research that focused on metro system is meaningful. This work firstly brings up the current situation and existing problems in emergency planning, especially for urban mass transit system. Related researches domestic and overseas are also analyzed. Several important specific factors in urban mass transit system like passenger distribution, evacuation capacity and suitability are taken into consideration. In the end, the thoughts about emergency evacuation planning and theoretic methods are proposed.
