Abstract This paper investigates the image sticking phenomenon in an AC plasma display panel (PDP), which appears when the PDP is subjected to a strong sustain discharge for an extended time and leaves a residual image on the display. This problem is very difficult to resolve using a conventional reset. Image sticking was investigated by observing the light emission from the reset, indicating that the wall charges accumulated on the sustain electrodes were the major cause. A few face (plate-gap) discharges equated the wall voltages on the sustain electrodes and set all cells of the PDP at the same external voltage for firing a surface discharge. The image sticking phenomenon disappeared after the face discharges.

This paper deal with vehicle fire caused by damage of diesel particulate filter (DPF) on diesel passenger vehicles. In order to reduce particulate matters included exhaust gases, a DPF in the exhaust system were installed diesel vehicles. A DPF was broken by excessively trapped particulate matters, regeneration error with a malfunction of ECU and defect of suction system such as swirl valve. If the DPF was broken, hot exhaust gases was released to the bottom of vehicle and released hot exhaust gases lead to occur the fire through combustible materials around the exhaust system. When a fire happened in the diesel vehicle caused by damage of DPF, silicate inorganic compounds were attached to the exhaust ventilation pipe and muffler. The silicate inorganic compounds were created by DPF combustion consisting of raw material ceramics. If the silicate inorganic compounds attached to the tail pipe in the diesel passenger vehicles, its fire cause will be assumed damage of DPF.

In the case of building collapses and overturned structures, a three‐dimensional (3D) collapse or overturn model is required to reconstruct the accident. As construction sites become increasingly complex and large, 3D laser scanning is sometimes the best tool to accurately document and store the site conditions. This case report presents one case of a structure collapse and one case of an overturned crane reconstructed by a 3D laser scanner. In the case of structural collapse of a prefabricated shoring system, a 3D model reconstructed all the members successfully, a task that is nearly impossible using a scale such as a tape measure. The reconstructed prefabricated shoring system was verified through a structural analysis through comparison with the construction drawings to investigate faults in construction. In the case of the overturned crane, the jib angle and other major dimensions were successfully acquired through 3D laser scanning and used to estimate the working radius. As a result, the propriety of the working radius with the given lifting load was successfully determined.

In this paper, we analyzed damage patterns of a folder type mobile phone caused by microwave-irradiation, to find an accurate fire cause and to investigate deliberate broken of mobile phone for obtaining pecuniary advantage by deception. In order to analyze broken patterns, we irradiated a mobile phone with microwave using by 2.45 GHz microwave oven. Form the experiment results, damage patterns of mobile phone have been tendency toward heavy broken patterns depending on time of microwave-irradiated. Distinctively, folder hinge and intenna(Planar Inverted-F Antenna) were heavy broken in compare with battery, enclosure and so on. The enclosure of mobile phone became just thermo-metamorphism and the battery was not broken such as explosion.
