IoT gadget control on wireless AP at home

Jinhong Yang; Hyojin Park; Yongrok Kim; Jun Kyun Choi

This paper demonstrates hosting IoT gadgets on the wireless AP(Access Point) at home. For this, the process and profile of the IoT gadgets need to be virtualized into JavaScriptbased objects. Then, to execute and control the instances of the virtualized IoT objects on the wireless AP, a novel instance management method is required. The demonstration shows the IoT gadget registration, monitoring, and control on the wireless AP. In addition, generating mash-up instances by connecting multiple gadgets and controlling them together is performed.

Programmable objectification and Instance Hosting for IoT nodes

Jinhong Yang; Hyojin Park; Yongrok Kim; Jun Kyun Choi

With the spread of Internet of Thing end device, the usage of multiple devices with Internet connectivity is increasing. However the methodology that can effectively interconnect the data or integrate the services being executed on individual things is scarce. One way to solve this problem is converting the things into the flexible virtual objects. In this paper, a method to generate an IoT node into a programmable object form is introduced. In addition, Instance Hosting System and its structure that can service the objects as micro instances are provided. Functionality of the proposed system has been confirmed via realization of Instance Hosting Gateway in an Access Point environment. Through this research, the method on how to effectively and efficiently manage number of IoT nodes is suggested.

A study on providing Open IPTV in next generation network service platform

Jinhong Yang; Hyojin Park; Jun Kyun Choi

This document discusses on the network service platforms and proposes architecture for Open IPTV service platform in NGN environment. Open IPTV, which provides variety of contents and data with form of openness through its value-chain, requires flexible choice on network assets. In the proposed architecture, to meet its special feature, we separate service creation environment from the NGN.

Enhanced Metadata Creation and Utilization for Personalized IPTV Service

Hyojin Park; Kireem Han; Jinhong Yang; Jun Kyun Choi

Metadata is the clue to connecting videos and individual users. For a successful personalization, collecting more detailed and concrete metadata is important. This paper proposes a method to create and utilize metadata more precisely as a result of research on how to do the personalization better. For that, we propose a way to consume and utilizing a video in a series of segmented images so that can get the user’s taste on specific sections or points of the video. Proposed method is implemented on the web site and the effectiveness of proposed method is revealed by comparing the site stay time and number of video usage per session between new visitors and returning visitors.

Kyuyeong Jeon; Jinhong Yang; Sungkwan Jung; Yongrok Kim; Sooji Jeon; Jun Kyun Choi

To provide a better user experience, we have to consider type of device and place. It means that the contents should have capabilities to be converted into several types. In this paper, we suggest a scheme to provide still-cut images from the moving images without users or contents providers effort. We also show you how to adapt the scheme to the web through demonstration.

A Web-based content syndication platform for IPTV

Jinhong Yang; Hyojin Park; Jun Kyun Choi

Current supply and demand for IPTV content is mostly done by out-sourcing based syndication which causes high cost competition on Ready Made Contents and risk of outsourcing dependency with limited contents spectrum. To resolve this problem, more sophisticated content syndication platform that enables efficient content packaging syndication is needed for sourcing diversification and various contents allowance environment. For this, we propose a Web-based content syndication platform that utilizes web-based syndication methods and orchestrate by the global standards for metadata management and content delivery.

A Study on Video Stream Synchronization from Multi-Source to Multi-Screen

Hyojin Park; Kyuyeong Jeon; Jinhong Yang; Kuinam J. Kim

With the advances of video services and user devices, now users can view multiple live video streams being taken at multiple angles on multiple devices at the same time. However, in order to actually perform such a service, a synchronization technique between plural video streams being played simultaneously on different screens is required. In this paper, we examine in detail the synchronization problems that may arise from the generation, transmission and consumption of multiple video streams. And we propose a structure and method to address the synchronization problem.
