Impact of Stress on Physical and Temporomandibular Joint Symptoms in Health-Related Majoring students

Jinuk Kim; Min-Hee Hong; Yoon-Shin Kim

The purpose of this study was to examine the stress of health-related majoring students on their physical and temporomandibular joint symptoms. The subjects were 283 college students in Chungcheongnam-do province from September 1 to November 30, 2012. The data were analyzed using SPSS 18.0(SPSS 18.0 K for window, SPSS Inc, USA) with the level of significance as 0.05. The findings of the study were as follows: There were significant differences among the university students in stress according to age, academic year, smoking and snack intake. Significant differences were found in digestive symptoms according to gender, academic year, drinking and snack intake, and there were significant differences in temporomandibular joint symptoms. Stress had a significant correlation to physical symptoms and temporomandibular joint symptoms. As for the influence of stress on physical symptoms and temporomanbular joint symptoms. In this study, how to help college students to relieve stress in a sound manner, to promote their physical, mental and oral health and ultimately to lead a sound college life should carefully be considered.

Comparison of Physical, Mental Health Status and Work-related Injuries According to the Working Environment of Nurses

Hye-Sim Kim; Yoon-Shin Kim; Min-Hee Hong; Jinuk Kim

This study was conducted to compare and analyse work-related injuries, physical and mental health status of nurses according to working environment. The subjects were 192 nurses working at a university hospital in Seoul. After analyzing each categories of health status by working environment and work-related injuries, meaningful differences were found physical and mental health status. And shift work was significantly related to work-related injuries compared to non-shift work. In addition, it was confirmed that nurses have negative influences from night work in physical and mental health compared to other work pattern. Thus, it would be necessary to improve working system with considering their health problems caused by working environment and work-related injuries. And we will have to be a study for effective night work and additional support for night workers.

The aim of the study is to investigate the awareness and practice of Standard Precautions towards Hospital Infection Control in Emergency medical technology students. Data were collected from 289 questionnaires from March 20, 2012 to April 25, 2012. The data were analyzed using SPSS 18.0 for window(SPSS Inc, USA) with the level of significance as 0.05. According to the results, significant differences were shown in gender, infection control education and infection control educational institutions. The factors influencing the practice of standard precautions were found to be the times of the contact to blood, body fluid, mucus, or the skin with lesions and the cognition of standard precautions. Cognition level of the EMT students was high but the practice level was low. Based on the results of this study, it is proposed to develop an effective educational program to improve the cognition and practice, and to improve the cognition and practice of the standard precaution through the systematic and repetitive education and training.

* Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, Hanyang Univ., ** Dept. of Mechanical Design and Production, Konkuk Univ.,*** Korea Aerospace Research Institute, **** Dept. of Mechanical Systems Engineering, Hansung Univ., (Received January 3, 2014 ; Revised May 19, 2014 ; Accepted May 19, 2014)Key Words: Gas Turbine Nozzle Guide Vane(가스터빈 노즐 가이드 베인), Near-Wall Treatment Method(벽면처리 방법), Transition Model(천이모델), Conjugate Heat Transfer(복합열전달) 초록: 난류모델에서 벽면처리법이 터빈 노즐 베인의 열전달 예측에 미치는 영향을 비교·분석하였다. Abstract: The comparative analysis of near-wall treatment methods that affect the prediction of heat transfer over the gas turbine nozzle guide vane were presented. To achieve this objective, wall-function and low Reynolds number methods, and the transition model were applied and simulated using NASA´s C3X turbine vane. The predicted turbine vane surface pressure distribution data using the near-wall treatment methods were found to be in close agreement with experimental data. However, the predicted vane metal temperature and heat transfer coefficient displayed significant differences. Overall, the low Reynolds method and transition model did not offer specific advantages in the prediction of temperature and heat transfer than did the wall-function method. The Reynolds stress model used along with the wall-function method resulted in a relatively high accuracy of prediction of the vane metal temperature and heat transfer coefficient.
