Physical properties of homopolymers of O6-methyl- and O6-ethylguanosine 5′-monophosphate

Homopolymers of O6-methyl- and O6-ethylguanosine 5′-monophosphate have been studied by circular dichroism. Evidence has been obtained for an organized helical structure which undergoes a cooperative thermally-induced helix → coil transition. The circular dichroism spectra are of a non-conservative type, characterized by an intense negative band at long wavelengths.
