Robot Control on the Basis of Bio-electrical Signals

Jorge Salvador Ierache; Gustavo Pereira; Iris Sattolo; Juan Irribaren; Nicolás Suiffet

This article shows the experiences carried out in the context of human/robot communication, on the basis of brain bio-electrical signals, with the application of the available technologies and interfaces which have facilitated the reading of the user’s brain bio-electrical signals and their association to explicit commands that have allowed the control of biped and mobile robots through the adaptation of communication devices. Our work presents an engineering solution, with the application of technological bases, the development of a high- and low-level communication framework, the description of experiments and the discussion of the results achieved in field tests.

A Proposal of Autonomous Robotic Systems Educative Environment

Jorge Salvador Ierache; Ramón García-Martínez; Armando De Giusti

This work presents our experiences in the implementation of a laboratory of autonomous robotic systems applied to the training of beginner and advanced students doing a degree course in Computer Engineering., taking into account the specific technologies, robots, autonomous toys, and programming languages. They provide a strategic opportunity for human resources formation by involving different aspects which range from the specification elaboration, modeling, software development and implementation and testing of an autonomous robotic system.

Navigation Control of a Robot from a Remote Location via the Internet Using Brain-Machine Interface

Jorge Salvador Ierache; Gustavo Pereira; Juan Iribarren

This article shows the experiences carried out in the context of Human Brain-Robot Control between Remote Places communication, on the basis of brain bio-electrical signals, with the application of the Brain-Machine Interface from Emotiv. There are available technologies and interfaces which have facilitated the reading of the bio-electrical signal from the user’s brain and their association to explicit commands that have allow controlling mobile robots (NXT-Lego) by adapting communication devices. Our work presents an engineering solution, with the application of technological basis, the development of the local communication framework and remote control. Lastly, metrics and indicators from the realized tests are proposed.

Application of Fuzzy Logic in Learning Autonomous Robots Systems

Maria L. Gonzalez; Jorge Salvador Ierache

Autonomous Robots Systems (ARS) can learn by establishing plans, executing them in a given environment and analyzing the results of the execution. The logic used among this process is usually the classic logic, which most of the times ends up being too restrictive and not consistent with the world the ARS is facing. This paper proposes the application of fuzzy logic to address this issue and improve the ARS learning curve considerably.
