ABSTRACT ‘BRS Tospodoro’ is a high lycopene tomato cultivar, which combines multiple disease resistance genes and desirable processing traits. This cultivar was found to be suitable for both conventional and organic crop systems. ‘BRS Tospodoro’ was obtained via backcross breeding using ‘Viradoro’ as recurrent parent and the inbred line ‘CNPH 1306’ as the donor of the Pto gene (resistance to Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato race 0). ‘BRS Tospodoro’ has the Mi1-2 gene that controls resistance to root-knot nematodes ( Meloidogyne incognita , M. javanica, and M. arenaria ) as well as tolerance to populations of the aphid Macrosiphum euphorbiae (vector of Potyvirus species), and to whiteflies ( Bemisia tabaci ). ‘BRS Tospodoro’ has also the Sw-5b gene, which controls resistance to major Tospovirus species ( Groundnut ringspot virus , Tomato chlorotic spot virus , Chrysanthemum stem necrosis virus , and Tomato spotted wilt virus ). This cultivar is also resistant to Stemphylium solani and S. lycopersici

ABSTRACT Performance of four vegetable soybean genotypes in twoagricultural years The performance of vegetable soybean genotypes was evaluatedin two years, in the experimental area of Universidade Estadual deSao Paulo, Sao Paulo State, Brazil. The experimental design was ofrandomized blocks, with four genotypes and five replications pereach year. Plots comprised of four rows, with three meters in lengthand the plants were arranged with a plant spacing of 0.10m and0.60m between rows, where 20 plants per plot were studied. Seedswere sown in expanded polystyrene trays with 128 pyramidal cells,with the substrate Plantmax Hortalicas ® . Transplanting was performedten days after sowing, in a soil previously fertilized as recommendedfor the crop. Harvesting was performed when pods reached thereproductive stage R6. The genotypes JLM003; JLM010; JLM018and CNPSoI were evaluated to measure the insertion height of firstpod, mean number of pods per plant, mean number of seeds per pod,production of pods per plant, fresh weight of 100 grains and totalyield of immature grains. Genotypes JLM003, JLM010 and CNPSoIwere the most productive and sowing date in December showedgreater yield than sowing in September.

Objetivando-se avaliar o desempenho de dois genotipos de soja-hortalica de ciclo precoce [Glycine max (L.) Merril], em diferentes densidades, foi instalado um ensaio, em area experimental do Setor de Olericultura e Plantas Aromatico-Medicinais, pertencente ao Departamento de Producao Vegetal, nas dependencias da Faculdade de Ciencias Agrarias e Veterinarias (FCAV-UNESP), Campus de Jaboticabal-SP. O delineamento experimental foi o de parcelas subdivididas, adotando-se nas parcelas os genotipos e nas subparcelas as densidades, com quatro repeticoes por tratamento. Cada parcela experimental foi constituida por quatro linhas de 4,5m de plantio, com densidades de 20, 10 e 7 plantas por metro e 0,60m nas entrelinhas, sendo consideradas para avaliacao 20 plantas por parcela, das duas linhas centrais. As sementes foram semeadas em bandejas de poliestireno expandido de 128 celulas, contendo substrato Plantmax Hortalicas®. O transplantio ocorreu dez dias apos a semeadura, em solo devidamente preparado, conforme recomendacoes para a cultura. A colheita foi realizada quando os legumes estavam em estadio reprodutivo R6. Avaliaram-se os genotipos JLM010 e CNPSOI quanto as caracteristicas: numero medio de legumes por planta, numero medio de sementes por legume, massa fresca de 100 sementes e produtividade estimada de graos imaturos. Com base nos resultados obtidos concluiu-se que o genotipo JLM010 e o mais recomendado e deve ser plantado na densidade de 7 plantas por metro.

Six field trials were carried out to evaluate processing tomato cultivars in four counties in the State of Goias, Brazil (Anapolis, Jatai, Porangatu and Santa Isabel, in 1990, and Anapolis and Porangatu, in 1991). The experiment was conducted as a randomized block design, with four replications, and plots of 80 plants in 1990 and 70 plants in 1991. The plant cycle was shorter in Porangatu (1990), where temperatures were higher than Anapolis. In Porangatu, plant flowering began 35 to 41 days after sowing, with the harvesting period starting 38 days later. Cultivars Petomech, IPA 6, and Improved Topmech, followed by IPA 5 and Agrocica 72, were high yielding and showed a high fruit firmness. Cultivars Roma VFN, Rossol and Agrocica 08, were also high yielding but produced fruits unsuitable for long distance transportation. With the exception of cultivar Itaparica, which showed the best adaptation to less favourable enviroments, all genotypes were responsive to enviroment improvement. Higher stability to environmental variation was observed in cultivars Agrocica 33, Calmec VF, IPA 6, Rio Fuego, Santa Adelia, Topmec Melhorado, and UC 82.
