The aim of this study was to review the Romantic Jealousy Inventory in an attempt to obtain an instrument with better psychometric properties. The reviewed instrument was administered to 201 undergraduate students of both sexes. An exploratory factor analysis revealed a primary structure with six factors: Non-Contact with Partner, Partner-Rival Contact, Partner Assault, Rival Assault, Self-Esteem and Investigation. A second-order factor analysis indicated the unidimensionality of the six primary factors. Reliability (α) ranged from .55 (Investigation) to .91 (General Factor). Therefore, the scale presents validity based on internal structure, but reliability was influenced by the low number of items in some factors. However, the scale may be recommended to be used in research, especially for an overall assessment of romantic jealousy.

The objective of this study was to adapt a Brazilian instrument for romantic jealousy assessment to the Portuguese cultural context, and to evaluate its psychometric properties. The adapted instrument was answered by 808 participants, divided in two equivalent samples regarding number and gender. Simultaneous factor analysis with those samples showed high similarity both with each other and with previous results obtained with a Brazilian sample. All factors showed reliability indices above 0.8. IRT based analysis revealed a good use of the response categories and showed that the majority of the scales are more discriminative for pathologic jealousy manifestation. It was concluded that the scale shows validity based on internal structure and good reliability, and can be recommended for research purposes.

Discriminant validity between emotional regulation and resilience Resilience and emotional regulation (ER) are psychological constructs whose operations have never been investigated in terms of mutual independence. Therefore, this study searched for evidence of discriminant validity between measures of resilience and ER. Thus, online versions of the Emotional Competence Inventory (ICE‐R) and the Resilience Scale for Adults (RSA) were applied to 169 participants with mean age of 29.8 years, predominantly female (65.7%). The results of an exploratory factorial analysis revealed that primary factors of resilience and regulation of emotions tend to cluster in different second‐order factors. Even if “self‐perception” had cross‐loaded in both second‐order factors, these results suggest that the measures are predominantly independent of one another.
