Este estudio tuvo objetivo analizar la estructura interna, precision y las diferencias de acuerdo con genero y edad en una escala de 10 items para evaluacion de los cinco grandes factores de la personalidad. Participaron 404 estudiantes de la escuela secundaria, con una edad media de 15,9 anos, del estado de Sao Paulo. La escala Ten-Item Personality Inventory (TIPI), conformada por 10 items, que son pares de adjetivos que representan los rasgos de la personalidad bajo en una escala tipo Likert de 1 a 7. No fue posible recuperar la estructura de cinco factores a traves del analisis de componentes principales, pero si una estructura de tres factores que abarca el contenido de la deseabilidad social, problemas de ajuste y la estabilidad emocional, con la precision entre 0,41 y 0,63. Ademas, fueron encontradas diferencias de medias significativas asociadas con la edad. Los resultados se discuten en relacion a las limitaciones del estudio y escala.This study analyzes the internal structure, precision and differences of averages by gender and age on a 10-item scale, designed to assess the Big Five Personality traits. A total of 404 high school students, with an average age of 15.9 years, from Sao Paulo, Brazil participated in the study. The Ten-Item Personality Inventory (TIPI) scale is comprised of pairs of adjectives representing personality traits arranged on a Likert scale varying from 1 to 7, measuring levels of agreement. It was not possible to identify the five-factor solution through analysis of the main components, but a three-factor structure was found that encompassed the content of social desirability, adjustment problems, and emotional stability, with the alpha varying from 0.41 to 0.63. Additionally, statistically significant differences associated with age were found. Results are discussed in terms of the study and scale limitations.

The objective of the present study was to verify the parameters of items and people by using the Item Response Theory (IRT) in a reading comprehension measurement, including quantitative and qualitative analyses of the items map as well as to investigate the presence of Differential Item Functioning (DIF). The sample consisted of 518 children from the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades, aged from 6 to 16, from private and public schools in the city of Belo Horizonte-MG. The instrument was a text prepared according to Cloze technique. The data confirmed the unidimensionality of the instrument; showed average theta higher than the average of items; and, the presence of DIF was observed in some items in relation to the school grades. The results demonstrated validity evidence for the instrument and are discussed in this paper.

Este estudo teve como objetivos: (a) construir um instrumento para avaliacao da personalidade de acordo com o modelo de Cattell que da base para o 16PF e (b) realizar uma analise empirica da estrutura interna desse instrumento. Participaram 347 pessoas, sendo a maioria do sexo feminino (67,4%), cursando o ensino superior (62,5%) e com idade variando de 16 a 66 anos (M = 25,69; DP = 8,90). Foram criados 120 itens e realizada uma analise exploratoria de fatores principais. Posteriormente, uma analise paralela, uma analise fatorial exploratoria por informacao completa de variaveis categoricas e analise de consistencia interna. Os resultados sugerem que o instrumento e formado por 12 fatores com indices de consistencia interna razoaveis. The personality disorders can be understood as theoretical constructs employed to represent different styles or patterns in which personality works maladapted to its environment. The personality styles theory of Theodore Millon is one of the models that aims to understand these disorders. From this theoretical model, different personality styles are proposed, as well as a tool for assessment of personality disorders, the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory (MCMI), which is widely used worldwide in the research and clinical context, and a psychotherapeutic proposal, called synergistic psychotherapy.
