Ethics related to therapeutic decision in cases of extreme prematurity Limits of viability for premature infants and survival with minimal consequences are current themes of great importance for ethics and bioethics. Extreme prematurity may result in many consequences and chronic inju- ries that limit the infant functionality. When prolongation of a very immature newborns life is opted, there is a greater exposure of premature infants and their family to pain, distress and physiological stress situations. The present review approaches ethical aspects related to this decision-making, considering the limit of via- bility and neuromotor sequelae derived from extreme prematurity. At present, it is considered not only the survival of extreme premature infants, but also the maintenance of their quality of life, since they are more likely to have sequelae at short, median and long time.

Bariatric surgery is becoming more and more established as an effective form of weight loss and method of treating comorbidities related to this condition. The short and long-term risks and benefits for adults have been well documented in literature, but no accurate data exists for children and adolescents. Given the significant changes in lifestyle habits and diet involved, the decision to undergo surgical treatment is a delicate one, requiring the participation of the entire medical team and the patient’s family. For this reason the doctor in charge must be aware of the major bioethical aspects involved, and th steps required to effectively manage cases were bariatric surgery is the preferred option.Bioethical analysis of indicating bariatric surgery for children and adolescents Bariatric surgery is becoming more and more established as an effective form of weight loss and method of treating comorbidities related to this condition. An integrative review on the theme of the social stigma imposed on individuals who have attempted suicide was conducted bringing to the fore reflections from a perspective of bioethics. The research was conducted in electronic databases. Only scientific articles by peer reviewed scientific journals with available abstracts were included. There were no limits to the year and language of publication. Two hundred and twenty-seven manuscripts were found in the first phase of the search. Only 22 complete texts were included in the study after the complete texts had been read. Despite the limitations of the research, it is believed that deeply studying the stigma of suicide can contribute significantly to patients who have attempted suicide. It is concluded that the study of this topic represents a range of bioethical discussions, forming, as it does, part of a phenomenon that affects aspects related to the autonomy and protection of the person.
