Background. Sulfites, preservatives and antioxidants used in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical and food industry are contact allergens whose relevance seems to be difficult to establish.

Background. Isopropyl alcohol is a secondary alcohol, a structural isomer of propanol, that is widely used as an industrial solvent and as a preservative and antiseptic in the clinical environment. It is known to be a mild irritant for the eyes and mucous membranes, but is considered to be a weak and infrequent sensitizer.

Hypersensitivity reactions to local anaesthethics account for less than 1% of side effects caused by these compounds (1). They may be caused by an immediatetype immune reaction, or most often by a delayed-type one, presenting clinically as eczematous lesions after skin contact with the drug (2). Patch testing is essential not only to confirm the diagnosis but also to identify local anaesthetics that the patient can rely on in future medical procedures or treatments (1).

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is considered the safest filler due in part to its supposed low risk of immunogenicity and to claims of reversibility with hyaluronidase. Over the past years, the industry has tried to create more differentiated and longer-lasting products by modifying the chemical structure of

Elastolytic giant cell granuloma (EGCG) is an infrequent granulomatous skin disorder with variable response to different therapeutic regimens. Information on the benefit of phototherapy is very scarce as this therapy has seldom been tried in the affected patients. We present the results achieved in two female patients after undergoing psoralen‐ultraviolet A (PUVA). Two 54‐year‐old otherwise healthy female patients received a course of PUVA after trying other alternatives. Complete clearance was achieved in the two patients with excellent tolerance and no adverse effects. We consider PUVA is a well‐tolerated, safe, and effective treatment for patients with EGCG.

Necrobiosis lipoidica is a granulomatous disease of unknown origin that typically gives rise to multiple lesions on the anterior aspect of both lower legs. The histopathologic abnormalities are mainly observed in the mid and deep dermis. The alterations tend to extend into the subcutaneous cellular tissue along the adipose tissue septa, giving rise to a predominantly septal panniculitis. High-frequency skin ultrasound has been shown to be a useful additional test for the diagnosis and differentiation of inflammatory diseases that affect the dermis and subcutaneous cellular tissue.

Nail diseases are a diagnostic challenge and high-frequency ultrasound with colour Doppler is a simple and painless diagnostic test that can often be useful. Ultrasound allows real-time evaluation of the anatomical structures of the nail and its vascularisation. The present study reviews the literature on ultrasound findings in the normal nail and in inflammatory and tumoural disease.
