Technology advancement and industry development not only bring people diversified products and convenience in using goods but also causes high pollution to environment. For recent years, people have begun to reflect on environment and emphasize on environment protection, and many enterprises have begun to think about how to balance products and environment. Therefore, the concept of “eco-innovative design” is more and more valued by various fields. This study utilizes theory of inventive problem solving (TRIZ) to generate eco-innovative principle and further uses AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) to find out optimal design scheme under multi-criteria decision-making. An example of O’right’s green product “ECO-Bottle:treeInTheBottle” is used to demonstrate feasibility of method proposed in this study. This study is divided into three stages. The first stage, data collecting, adopts literature discussion and focus group discussion. KJ method is used for classification and three aspects of green design strategy are obtained: green material, environment safety and expenses. The second stage is data mapping, which maps 40 inventive principles in contradiction matrix of TRIZ into 39 engineering parameters so as to form innovative principles. At the third stage of decision weight, expert questionnaire and 9-point scale about previous-stage data are used to generate a weighted model of relationships between target, sub evaluation criteria and detailed rules. Finally, eco-friendly recycled bottle is used for verification, questionnaire survey is implemented among 10 experts and 10 consumers, and ANOVA is adopted to test consistency. Therefore, this study applies TRIZ into “ECO-Bottle” and proposes ecoinnovative design rule as well as optimal design scheme chosen through multi-criteria decision-making. From the viewpoint of green enterprise business, this study establishes green product strategy and evaluation, weighs various hierarchies including green materials, environment safety and expenses, and finally sets up eco-innovative design rules and weight model that can be used as a reference for future researchers and scholars.

With the changes of life style, the sales volume of multimedia computers keeps growing. Like other electric products, multimedia computers are assembled by many pieces of materials and have short usage periods, which would result in heavy environmental load. To reduce the environmental burden effectively the characteristics of life cycle design should be taken into account at the start of product design. The purpose of this study is to investigate the environmental impact from multimedia computers by the analysis of LCA (life cycle assessment) and to establish the checking guidelines for designers in the process of product development. After a checking assessment list is formed, an applied example is followed to support the result. This paper is based on analytical and research concepts to develop, apply and assess the whole model of recycling materials. At the start of the research, foreign and domestic literature reviews relating to green design, are made. Then the research flow and environmental assessment tools are assured and thereafter the screened design principle and checking list are produced. Meanwhile, the example of multimedia computers development is applied to explain how to reduce the environmental load and damage during the process of development. Matched with the opinions of scholars, experts and users, the example is utilized to evaluate and to approve the effectiveness of this assessment model under this study.

Facility layout presents a complex design challenge. It is particularly regarded as a vital issue in Chinese society and throughout Asian countries where Feng Shui, the ancient and revered Chinese practice governing environmental esthetics, has played and continues to play a vital role in man-made design. In this research, the innovative merger of a fuzzy analytic hierarchy process and a fuzzy technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution integrating a fuzzy multicriteria decision-making methodology is proposed for solving facility layout design evaluation problems. Our research draws on the traditional analytic methodology of the Feng Shui model and employs the proposed scheme for solving an actual office layout design evaluation problem. In a comparison of the results of our investigations, a positive numerical evaluation demonstrates the feasibility and efficiency of the proposed scheme, and suggests its applicability with other MCDM problems.
