Oxidation of Propylene with Peracetic Acid to Propylene Oxide under Pressure

プロピレンと過酢酸の加圧反応(酢酸溶媒)につき研究し,反応温度20~50℃ では高収率でプロピレンオキシド(PO)が得られることを認めた。エポキシ化の速度はプロピレンおよび過酢酸の濃度に関して1次であり,30℃ における反応速度定数は5.0~5.2×10-3l/mol・minであった。また活性化エネルギーは12.8~10.2kcal/molであった。本反応における主な副反応はP O の酢酸によるエステル化反応であるが, この反応の速度定数はエポキシ化速度定数の1/6 ~1/10であり,活性化エネルギーは6.3kcal/molであった。それゆえ,収率よくPOを得るには反応温度40~50℃ が望ましいことを認めた。エポキシ化反応に有効は触媒は見当らず,よた本反応の溶媒としては酢酸,ベンゼン,四塩化炭素がすぐれており,メタノール,アセトンなどではエポキシ化速度が低下した。これらの溶媒効果は,プロピレンの溶解度と溶媒による水素結合に基づく過酢酸の活性化あるいは不活性化によって説明された。
