An intelligent agent for RFID-Based home network system

Woojin Lee; Juil Kim; Kiwon Chong

An intelligent agent which is a software component for the efficient home network system is proposed in this paper. The agent consists of six modules such as the Agent Manager, the Data Collector, the Execution Controller, the Data Storage, the Data Queue and the User Interface. The Agent Manager manages the tasks of modules, and the Data Collector collects the data from home appliances through the RFID readers. The Execution Controller determines the operations of home appliances according to the conditions of the home environment and transfers the operations to the appliances through the RFID readers. Moreover, the Data Storage keeps the data which is necessary for the operations of the agent, and the Data Queue temporarily stores the data which is collected from home appliances. Lastly, the User Interface provides the graphical user interface in which an individual can directly control and monitor the home network. The proposed intelligent agent autonomously learns the circumstances of a home network by analyzing the data about the state of home appliances, and provides the best suited environment to the user. Therefore, the user can live in an optimal home environment without effort if he/she performs home networking through the agent.

A tool to generate an adapter for the integration of web services interface

Kwangyong Lee; Juil Kim; Woojin Lee; Kiwon Chong

As the number of available web services is steadily increasing, many applications are being developed by reusing web services. Accordingly, a tool to generate an adapter which integrates interfaces of several web services is proposed in this paper. The concept of the adapter for the integration of web services interface is described. The purpose of the adapter is to help developers use several web services with little effort for their application development. Then, implementation of the tool to generate an adapter is presented. The architecture of the tool, the process, and the algorithm to generate an adapter are described. The tool will help developers integrate several web services when they develop applications.

A System for Change Management of Sensor Network Applications based on Version Synchronization

Jae-Cheol Kim; Juil Kim; Kiwon Chong; Woojin Lee

This paper proposes a change management system of sensor network applications based on version synchronization that supports to effectively manage defect correction of applications, change of functions for applications or improvement of applications without suspending the sensor network. The proposed change management system consists of the NADE which is an application development environment, the Node Management Server, and the Node Agent. NADE is an Eclipse-based development environment for developing applications which are installed into nodes. NADE is also connected with CVSNT which is a version management tool and performs application version management using the CVSNT. Node Management Server manages nodes to maintain latest versions of applications by synchronizing versions of applications which are performed on the nodes with the versions of applications which are developed in the NADE. Node Agent which is loaded into the node periodically sends the version information of the application to the server, and stores and updates the version information of the application. Through the proposed change management system, applications of nodes are automatically updated when versions of applications are changed by correcting defects, changing functions or improving applications. Therefore, the user can effectively manage the execution of sensor network system without suspending or delaying the sensor network. Also, visibility of change management for sensor network applications will be improved.

A Tool to Construct a Web Service by Synthesizing Several Web Services

Juil Kim; Woojin Lee; Kiwon Chong

Web application developers are moving towards Web Services as a mechanism for developing component-based Web applications. Accordingly, the number of available web services is steadily increasing, and many applications are being developed by reusing web services. Therefore it is necessary to construct a new web service using several existing web services for reusability and productivity. This paper proposes a tool to construct a new web service by synthesizing several existing web services. The architecture of the tool, the process, and the algorithm to construct a web service are described. Through the tool, developers can construct new web services automatically, rapidly, easily, and inexpensively using existing web services.

A technique for code generation of USN applications based on nano-qplus

Kwangyong Lee; Woojin Lee; Juil Kim; Kiwon Chong

A technique for automatic code generation of USN applications based on Nano-Qplus is proposed in this paper. Nano-Qplus is a sensor network platform developed by ETRI. Programs of nodes such as sensors, routers, sinks and actuators in a sensor network are automatically generated through the technique. Developers can implement USN applications from models of sensor networks. The execution code is generated by setting attribute values of each node according to the model through the script proposed in this paper. Through the technique of this paper, developers can easily implement USN applications even if they do not know the details of low-level information. The development effort of USN applications also will be decreased because execution codes are automatically generated. Furthermore, developers can perform early test through rapid code generation, so the verified code is generated by correcting errors in the early development stage.

A programming model for the automatic construction of USN applications based on Nano-Qplus is proposed in this paper. Nano-Qplus is a sensor network platform developed by ETRI. Programs of nodes such as sensors, routers, sinks and actuators in a sensor network are automatically generated through the technique of this paper. Developers can implement USN applications from models of sensor networks. The configuration information of each node is automatically generated from a model. Then, the execution code is automatically generated using the configuration information. Through the technique of this paper, developers can easily implement USN applications even if they do not know the details of low-level information. The development effort of USN applications also will be decreased because execution codes are automatically generated. Furthermore, developers can consistently construct USN applications from USN models using the proposed tool.
