Organizational culture as determinant of product innovation

Julia Clemencia Naranjo Valencia; Raquel Sanz Valle; Daniel Jiménez Jiménez

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to study empirically the relationships among organizational culture and product innovation.Design/methodology/approach – The paper formulates some hypotheses from the literature review. Gregorio Calderón Hernández; Julia Clemencia Naranjo Valencia; Claudia Milena Álvarez Giraldo

This analytical study briefly reviews the relationship between the modernization of business practices and human resource management in Colombia. It provides a description of the characteristics of human resource departments and practices, including a description of the labor market and employee relations consistent with human resource management. The last part discusses the generation of knowledge in this country, taking into account the three most relevant perspectives, namely, the sociological, humanist, and strategic perspectives, of which the latter links human resource departments and practices with the strategic objectives and goals of an organization, considering that its intangible assets are the main source of its sustainable competitive advantage.

Gregorio Calderón Hernández; Claudia Milena Álvarez Giraldo; Julia Clemencia Naranjo Valencia

Human resource management is going beyond having a merely instrumental role, to becoming the support of organizational competitiveness. One of the areas in which human resource management must support companies is in fulfilling their social responsibility. This research aims to find evidence of this relationship based on a theoretical perspective and a comparison of a set of Colombian companies. We performed a triangulation of both quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection. We carried out an analysis of the validity and reliability of information, and used cluster techniques to analyze the information, and complemented them with descriptive and qualitative techniques, such as discourse analysis.
