Arthur S. Link of Princeton University has been studying and writing about Woodrow Wilson for some foity years, and he is the editor of The Papers of Woodrow Wilson. The thirty-six volumes thus far published in this series are a tribute to his prodigious scholarship. By common consent, Professor Link is the preeminent Wilson scholar of our time. If Link finds serious fault with an interpretation of Wilson, it behooves those who advanced it to reexamine their work in the light of his criticisms. As authors of Woodrow Wilson and Colonel House: A Personality Study, we felt placed under such an obligation upon the publication in Political Science Quarterly three years ago of an article by Link in collaboration with Edwin A. Weinstein (a psychiatrist and neurologist who has been studying and writing about Wilson for almost fifteen years), and James William Anderson (a clinical psychologist).
