The paper proposes a methodology to provide the multimedia service framework to provide an integrated multimedia service in the ubiquitous home network. To do so, we define the requirements of a home media server (HMS), and implement its functionalities as a gateway for establishing connections between the home and external networks. The proposed HMS pursues, not only the integration of home network middleware technologies that allow automatic control and information sharing with various consumer electronics (CEs) and A/V devices, but also intended to provide context based intelligences to the multimedia services for the ubiquitous home environment .

This paper presents a multimedia service platform to express multisensory media effects for heterogeneous appliances and a home server in the ubiquitous home networks. The platform is equipped with an adaptation technology to process multimedia service based on a home server. The proposed adaptation consists of a multimedia parser, analyzer, device profile gatherer, device selector and a media player. The multisensory adaptation communicates with service modules for integrating the control of various home appliances. The multimedia service supports not only multimedia contents subscriptions but also presents additional sensory effects to the high quality multimedia services for various different homes via the adaptation.

This paper presents a metadata analysis platform to express multisensory media effects for home appliances and a home server in the ubiquitous home networks. The platform is based on a home server that is equipped with a hardware decoder for multimedia processing. The proposed metadata analyzer communicates with services modules for integrating the control of multiple home appliances. In the home networks, the expressive multisensory multimedia service includes the appliance control service and parsing metadata for the media. The metadata is comprehensive set of XML descriptions. In this paper, the implementation of the XML parsers is introduced and an algorithm is presented with software architecture for the metadata analyzer while elements and attributes of XML are converted to intermediate data for appliances control purposes.
