Characteristics of Vertical Variation of Wind Resources in Planetary Boundary Layer in Coastal Area using Tall Tower Observation

Analysis of wind resources in Planetary Boundary Layer (PBL) using long term observation of tall tower located near coast line of the Korean Peninsula were carried out. The data observed at Pohang, Gunsan and Jinhae are wind, temperature and relative humidity with 10 minute interval for one year from 1 October 2010. Vertical turbulence intensity and its deviation at Pohang site is smaller than those of other sites, and momentum flux estimated at 6 vertical layers tend to show small difference in Pohang site in comparison with other sites. The change of friction velocity with atmospheric stability in Pohang is also not so great. These analysis indicate the mechanical forcing due to geographical element of upwind side is more predominant than thermal forcing. On the other hand, wind resources at Gunsan and Jinhae are mainly controlled by thermal forcing.

Numerical study on the characteristics of TKE in coastal area for offshore wind power

To clarify the characteristics of TKE (Turbulence Kinetic Energy) variation for offshore wind power development, several numerical experiments using WRF were carried out in three different coastal area of the Korean Peninsula. Buoyancy, mechanical and shear production term of the TKE budget are fundamental elements in the production or dissipation of turbulence. Turbulent kinetic energy of the south coast region was higher than in other sea areas due to the higher sea surface temperature and strong wind speed. In south coast region, strong wind passing through the Korea Strait is caused by channelling effect of the terrain of the Geoje Island. Although wind speed is weak in east coast, because of large difference in wind speed between the upper and lower layer, the development of mechanical turbulence tend to be predominant. Since lower sea surface temperature and smaller wind shear were detected in west coastal region, the possibility of turbulence production not so great in comparison with other regions. The understanding of the characteristics of turbulence in three different coastal region can be reduced the uncertainty of offshore wind construction.

Impact of Air Pollutant Emissions from Aircraft on the Air Pollution around Airport

Abstract Emissions from aircraft have impacts on the air pollution of airport and the surrounding area. There are methods of emissions calculated as Tier 1, Tier2, Tier 3A and Tier 3B. Thus, this study investigated emissions from aircraft at the Gimhae International Airport using EDMS(Emissions & Dispersion Modeling System) program. Results of estimation from aviation emissions, Tier 3B considering all parts which can occur at the airport has the largest amount emissions. In order to understand the relation between aviation emissions and distribution of ozone concentration over airport area, numerical evaluation were carried out. Although the difference of surface ozone distribution between numerical assessment with and without aviation emissions was little, effects of air pollution at airport area from aviation emissions of NOx and VOCs. Key words : Airport, Aircraft, Air pollutant, Aviation emission, EDMS 1. 서 론 1) 최근 미세먼지 및 대기질 예보가 시행됨에 따라 대기오염물질에 대한 정확한 배출량 산정이 요구되지만 여전히 배출량 추정에 대한 불확실도가 높다. 특히 도로나 철도, 선박과 같은 육상수송에 의한 대기오염물질 배출이 대기와 기후변화에 영향을 미친다고 하였다(Uherek et al., 2010). 이러한 도로 및 철도, 선박과 같은 물류수송에 의한 대기오염물질 배출이 상당하지만 정확한 배출량 산정은 어려운 실정에 있다. 2012년을 기준으로 국내 여객수송 수단 중 공로(road) 수송이 약 87%, 지하철 및 철도수송 약 12%, 항공 수송 약 0.07%, 해운수송 약 0.05%로 나타났으며, 국제 여객수송은 항공수송 약 94%, 해운수송 약 6%로 순으로 나타났다(MLTMA:
