Abstract The taxonomy of the genus Peyerimhoffia Kieffer in China was studied. Eight species were recognized, including seven new species that are herein described and illustrated: P. hamata sp. n., P. obesa sp. n., P. sparsula sp. n., P. longiprojecta sp. n., P. brachypodua sp. n., P. yunnana sp. n., and P. shennongjiana sp. n. In addition, P. vagabunda (Winnertz, 1867) is reported for the first time from China. A key to these Chinese species is provided.

Chinese hickory, Carya cathayensis Sargent (Juglandaceae), is a tree naturally occurring and industrially grown in China for the nuts that are valued for their taste and nutrient content. Larvae of a previously unknown species of gall midge were found feeding on male and female inflorescences of Carya cathayensis in Zhejiang and Anhui Provinces in eastern China, reducing pollination and fruit development, and causing substantial damage to the nut industry. The new species is named Contarinia caryafloralis Jiao, Bu Kolesik, its morphology is described, the basic biology is given, and the Cytochrome Oxidase subunit I (COI) mitochondrial gene segment is sequenced. Contarinia caryafloralis is the first gall midge known to feed on a Carya species native to Asia.

ABSTRACT The genus Cardipennis Korotyaev, 1980 (Ceutorhynchinae: Ceutorhynchini) was studied on the basis of detailed morphological observations of various materials. Different scale patterns within a species are found for all the three species. Based on the external morphology and genitalia characteristics, Cardipennis rubripes (Hustache, 1916), C. sulcithorax (Hustache, 1916), and C. shaowuensis (Voss, 1958) are redescribed, with new records of C. rubripes from mainland China. Cardipennis species are mainly associated with annual herbs of Cannabis and Humulus (Cannabaceae). A key to species, habitus photographs, and illustrations of important characters are provided for each species. Distribution maps of the three species are also given.

ABSTRACT: The genus Pseudozygoneura Steffan (1969) is recorded and revised from China for the first time, and includes eleven species. Six new species, P. hexacantha sp. nov., P. brachyacantha sp. nov., P. bifida sp. nov., P. triacantha sp. nov., P. robustispina sp. nov. and P. quadridentata sp. nov. are described herein and illustrated in detail. Another five species, P. latidactyla Hippa, Vilkamaa & Heinakroon, 1998, P. index Hippa, Vilkamaa & Heinakroon, 1998, P. kirkspriggsi Hippa, Vilkamaa & Heinakroon, 1998, P. flagelloparva Hippa, Vilkamaa & Heinakroon, 1998 and P. lagena Hippa, Vilkamaa & Heinakroon, 1998 are reported. Geographical distribution of the eleven Chinese species is provided, as well as a key to all Chinese species.

Abstract The genus Scleropteroides Colonnelli, 1979 (Ceutorhynchinae: Scleropterini) was revised on the basis of detailed morphological observations. The genus was redefined to include three species from East Asia: S. hypocrita (Hustache, 1916) is redescribed and recorded from northeastern China and northern Korea for the first time; S. horridulus (Voss, 1958) is redescribed with new records from southern Korea; S. insularis Voss, 1971 was moved from synonymy with S. hypocrita to that with S. horridulus (syn. n.), and S. longiprocessus Huang & Yoshitake, sp. n. is described as new, sympatric with S. hypocrita in Japan. All the species are associated with woody Rubus species (Rosaceae). A key to species, habitus photographs, illustrations of important characters, and distribution maps are provided for each species.

Abstract Seven species of Keilbachia Mohrig are recognized, and among them, two new species, Keilbachia subacumina Wu & Zhang, sp. n. and Keilbachia fengyangensis Wu & Zhang, sp. n. are described and illustrated. Five species, Keilbachia orthonema, Keilbachia flagrispina, Keilbachia demssia, Keilbachia oligonema and Keilbachia acumina are reported for the first time from China. A key to the 15 Chinese species of this genus is also provided.
