Using Beam Wave Interaction Simulator (BWIS), one module of Microwave Tube Simulator Suite (MTSS), a wideband helix TWT has been accurately simulated. The slow-wave circuit parameters are calculated by High Frequency Circuit Simulator.

High Frequency Circuit Simulator based on finite integration technology

This paper provides the design and realization of high frequency circuit simulator (HFCS) which is based on the Finite Integration Technology. For vilification, the cold-test characteristics of two actual helical slow wave structures have been calculated and the results were found to be consistent with those of MAFIA simulation with same mesh density.

Design of circular waveguide tapers for a ka-band two-cavity gyroklystron amplifier

Three different kinds of circular waveguide taper are designed for a Ka-band two-cavity gyroklystron amplifier, which are radially shaped to follow a Dolph-Chebyshev profile, a Modified Dolph-Chebyshev Profile and a linear profile respectively. With almost the same taper length, the amplifier using the taper following the Modified Dolph-Chebyshev profile has the appropriate mode conversion and meets the desired performance.

Impedance calculation of helical slow-wave structure using HFCS-I and MAFIA

Using HFCS-I and MAFIA, the impedance characteristics of a typical helical slow-wave structure (SWS) is studied, in which the Non-Resonant Perturbation (NRP) Method is adopted and the direct calculation from discrete Electromagnetic (EM) fields is performed. The results from HFCS-I and MAFIA are found to be consistent.

Development and validation of a time-dependent large-signal simulation code for gyroklystron amplifier

A time-dependent self-consistent large-signal simulation code for gyroklystron is developed and the key technologies involved are introduced. To validate the code, a Ka-Band gyroklystron amplifier is simulated and the effects of time step and space step are observed, which lead up to a coarse criterion about the choice of appropriate time step and space step so as to take consideration of both computation efficiency and accuracy. At the end, the simulated performance of the gyroklystron is proved to be consistent with the designed performance indexes.
