Two new species of Neophyllobius (Acari, Camerobiidae) viz. N. populus sp. n., N. karabagiensis sp. n., and a new species of Tycherobius (Acari, Camerobiidae), Tycherobius dazkiriensis sp. n., are described from Turkey and illustrated based on females and a protonymph. A key to the known species of Tycherobius is presented.

ABSTRACT A new species of the genus Tycherobius anatolicus sp. nov. collected from soil and litter under Crataegus sp. and Juglans sp. in Turkey is described and illustrated based on adult females. Additionally, T. iranensis Khanjani, Yazyanpanah, Ostovan and Asali Fayaz 2012 and T. sahragardi Khanjani, Hajizadeh, Hoseini and Jalili 2013 are recorded for the first time in Turkey. A comparison of characters of adult females of the genus Tycherobius is given and a key to known species of Tycherobius is provided.

The water mite family Pontarachnidae Koenike, 1910, the only family of the Hydrachnidia occurring in the marine environment, represents a well-defined monophyletic clade (Pešić, Chatterjee, Alfaro, & Schizas, 2014). The family includes two genera: Litarachna Walter, 1925 and Pontarachna Philippi, 1840. The latter genus is represented in Turkey by three species: Pontarachna expisce Smit, 2008, found in the gill of fish and collected in the Mediterranean Sea (Smit, 2008), and P. adriatica Morselli, 1980 and P. valkanovi Petrova, 1978, both collected from the southern Black Sea (Pešić, Sezgin, Karaçuha, & Ürkmez, 2013). The specimens of the latter species were collected from 3 m water depth, while P. adriαtica seems to prefer deeper waters (10 m depth) (Pešić et al. 2013). At present only one species of the genus Litarachna, L. divergens Walter, 1925, has been reported from Turkey (Antalya, Eastern Mediterranean; Thessalou-Legaki et al., 2012). However, the latter species has recently been considered as a species incerta by Pešić and Smit (2015). These authors stated that the record from Turkey published under the name of L. divergens probably refers to L. communis Walter, 1925. During 2013–2014, the junior authors conducted a biodiversity survey at two study sites: Urla and Çeşmealtı, located in Izmir Bay (Aegean Sea, Turkey). Pontarachnid mites were collected by hand netting from the marine littoral (0–3 metres), sorted in the laboratory with the aid of a stereomicroscope, and preserved in 70% alcohol. The material will be deposited in the collection of the first author. The composition of the material is: males/females/deutonymphs. In this study, three species new for the Turkish fauna are identified.

An adult female of the new caligonellid mite Neognathus ozkani sp. nov. and a protonymph of Molothrognathus terrulentus Meyer & Ueckermann, 1989 are described and illustrated. Two caligonellid species, M. terrulentus Meyer & Ueckermann, 1989 and Molothrognathus phytocolus Meyer & Ueckermann, 1989 are new records for the Turkish fauna.
