NOVEL TRENDS IN RHEOLOGY IV | 2011
Susana Filipe; Katja Klimke; Ahn Tuan Tran; Jens Reussner
Analytical techniques, e.g., rheology, fractionation, NMR, have been widely used all over the years to predict and gain insight into molecular topology, molecular weight, broadness of molecular weight distribution and flow behaviour. Particularly rheology is known to be an essential characterization tool, since it allows establishing the link between processability and molecular structural properties. Most of the existing rheological parameters used by industry to correlate molecular structure and processability are based on methods undertaken under small deformations (SAOS, Creep). These parameters are based on techniques that are often time consuming and which, for most of the cases, are only applicable to a given class of materials. High throughput experimental techniques and analytical methods coupled to processing lines are a present demand for polyolefin producers. The present work will give an overview on the current developments within high throughput rheological experimentation.
