To describe non-manual signals (NMSs) of Japanese Sign Language (JSL), we have developed the notational system sIGNDEX. The notation describes both JSL words and NMSs. We specify characteristics of sIGNDEX in detail. We have also made a linguistic corpus that contains 100 JSL utterances. We show how sIGNDEX successfully describes not only manual signs but also NMSs that appear in the corpus. Using the results of the descriptions, we conducted statistical analyses of NMSs, which provide us with intriguing facts about frequencies and correlations of NMSs.

This is a proposal of the universal coding system for the sign languages. It is expected to resolve the problems of the entangled notational systems for the sign language. The structure and rules are proposed and some application models for Japanese Sign Language are shown The USC is constructed with several strata, lexical, sentence, phonological, morphological, regional and other levels

We have developed an ubiquitous sign presentation system using the portable game machines and the mobile phones. An application for this system is supposed to be a guide at a shop or at a museum, and a movie dictionary for sign learning. The system reads the USC proposed by us through a bar-code reader or by a camera, and it indicates a signing movie corresponding. The movie is located in the memory in the system. If the corresponding movie does not exist in the memory of a mobile phone system, it is downloaded from the web server to play it.

We difine our term holistic prosthesis, and stated why we coined new word and its background. We showed some example of holistic use of prosthetic manufactures. A new idea is proposed for supporting the hearing handicapped people from our point of view. We introduced an experiment at a museum as an example of informational support in public.

This is a report of the survey at the real medical inspection situation in which the staffs rarely tell outside. Communication with the hearing handicapped people at the medical situations. In most cases the staffs only talk to them as usual or show them their handwriting which are better than nothing but not effective. Some electrical devices will help to provide better communicational setting.
