Debra Rae Cohen is assistant Professor of english at the University of South Carolina. She is author of Remapping the Home Front: Locating Citizenship in British Women’s Great War Fiction (northeastern 2002). Currently she is co-editing a volume of essays on modernism and radio, and working on a book on rebecca West and modernist historiography. Kevin J. H. Dettmar is Professor of english and cultural studies at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. he has written or edited a half-dozen books on modernist literature, serves as general editor of the Longman Anthology of British Literature, and is coeditor of the new oxford University Press book series modernist Literature & Culture. his current project is an examination of the history and theory of irony in the public sphere since the 1830s.
