Tetrahedron | 1998

An expeditious route to CoQn, vitamins K1 and K2, and related allylated para-quinones utilizing Ni(0) catalysis

Bruce H. Lipshutz; Sung-kyu Kim; Paul Mollard; Kirk L. Stevens

Abstract Coupling reactions between vinylalanes and chloromethylated para-quinones, mediated by catalytic amounts of Ni(0), lead directly to allylated products, including coenzyme Q, and vitamins K1 and K2.

Tetrahedron | 1996

ALLYLATED AROMATICS VIA NI-CATALYZED COUPLINGS OF BENZYLIC CHLORIDES AND VINYLIC ORGANOMETALLICS

Bruce H. Lipshutz; Gerd Bulow; Richard F. Lowe; Kirk L. Stevens

Abstract Hydroalumination and hydrozirconation of alkynes lead to vinylic organometallics which react with benzylic chlorides at room temperature under the influence of in situ-generated, catalytic quantities of (presumably) Ni(0), to afford allylated aromatics in good yields.

Tetrahedron | 1998

Nickel(0)-catalyzed couplings of vinyl- alanes & - zirconocenes with chloromethylated heteroaromatics: A route to E-allylated heterocycles

Bruce H. Lipshutz; Sung-kyu Kim; Paul Mollard; Peter A. Blomgren; Kirk L. Stevens

Abstract Treatment of selected chloromethylated heteroaromatics, including pyridines, thiophenes, and furans, with vinyl alanes or vinyl zirconocenes in the presence of Ni(0) results in E-allylated products in good yields.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1992

Higher order, mixed cyanocuprates derived from N-lithio-imidazole and pyrrole : new dummy ligand alternatives in organocopper chemistry

Bruce H. Lipshutz; Paul Fatheree; William Hagen; Kirk L. Stevens

Abstract Treatment of N-lithioimidazole or N-lithiopyrrole with CuCN followed by an organolithium leads to cuprates R(Imid)Cu(CN)Li 2 and R(Pyrr)Cu(CN)Li 2 which show “higher order” reactivity relative to RCu(CN)Li.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1995

A novel route to the anti-HIV nucleoside d4T

Bruce H. Lipshutz; Kirk L. Stevens; Richard F. Lowe

Abstract A novel 2-pot process involving cyclonucleoside formation across C-5′ oxygen in the 2′-deoxyribose and C-6 in the base ultimately leads to the title compound.

Journal of the American Chemical Society | 1999

A Convergent Approach to Coenzyme Q

Bruce H. Lipshutz; Gerd Bulow; Fernando Fernández-Lázaro; Sungkyu Kim; Richard F. Lowe; and Paul Mollard; Kirk L. Stevens

Journal of the American Chemical Society | 1996

A Novel Route to Coenzyme Qn

Bruce H. Lipshutz; Gerd Bulow; and Richard F. Lowe; Kirk L. Stevens

Journal of the American Chemical Society | 1996

ANALYSES OF ANIONIC CU(I) COMPLEXES VIA ELECTROSPRAY MASS SPECTROMETRY

Bruce H. Lipshutz; Kirk L. Stevens; Brian R. James; James G. Pavlovich; James P. Snyder

Synthesis | 1994

A Novel Route to Pyrimidine Nucleosides via Intramolecular Couplings of Bases with 2′-Deoxyribosides: Quick and Stereospecific...but with a 'Twist'

Bruce H. Lipshutz; Hiroyuki Hayakawa; Kaneyoshi Kato; Richard F. Lowe; Kirk L. Stevens
