DRM Enabled P2P Architecture

Jae-Youn Sung; Jeong-Yeon Jeong; Kisong Yoon

Recently, P2P (peer to peer) systems, direct file sharing systems among the peers, are one of the most attractive file sharing system. P2P architectures have high scalability and high performance due to the fact that its architectures which have characteristics of distributed file processing. However, P2P architecture is infamous for distribution channel of illegal contents. So we must apply the DRM (digital rights management) system to the P2P architecture, and we should keep the advantages of P2P even if after the DRM system is applied. In this paper, we propose a new type of DRM applied P2P system architecture that keeps the existing P2P systems advantages

Interlock System for DRM Interoperability of Streaming Contents

Do-Won Nam; Jungsoo Lee; Jeonghyun Kim; Kisong Yoon

DRM(digital rights management) is a tool for protecting copyrights and managing the rights of usage. Many DRM technology have been developed, which cause inconvenience for user in the usage of the content. DRMs standardizations have been proceeding for interoperability between different DRMs therefore. EXIM developed by Korea recently proposed the method for the interoperability of download contents, however, in the case of streaming content, it is difficult to apply EXIM technology for downloadable content because the process of encoding and transmitting of streaming content is complicated and the DRM technology is applied within these processes. In this paper, we propose the DRM interoperability structure for streaming content between the content providing server and the end device in which different DRM systems are installed respectively. We set up the interlock system for the DRM interoperability of streaming content between the content provision server and end device and using this system we wish to design the free and safe distribution system of the streaming content independent of the DRM types.

DRM applied contents share in digital home

Jungsoo Lee; Yeonjeong Jeong; Kisong Yoon; Jihyun Park

DRM(Digital Rights Management) and CAS(Conditional Access System) techniques have been used to cut off the illegal use of contents. These techniques, however, resulted in much inconvenience as restricting the move or play of the content of even legal users. In this paper, we propose a new content share technique based on domain according to the increment of the demand about the flexible content use and share in digital home. The proposed scheme can prevent content being flowed out and cut off the illegal use as describing domain license in the extent of DRM license.

Audio DRM Conversion between Different DRM Content Formats

Yeonjeong Jeong; Jung Hyun Kim; Kisong Yoon

Currently audio content is protected by many kinds of DRM systems each of which adopts different DRM technology. It might be impossible to use the content governed by one DRM System at other DRM compliant device even within one users domain. In this paper, we propose a scheme that can converts one DRMs DRM content to other DRMs DRM content between different audio DRM systems to make it available in other DRM system.

DRM Content Adaptation Scheme Between Different DRM Systems for Seamless Content Service

Yeonjeong Jeong; Jihyun Park; Jeonghyun Kim; Kisong Yoon

Current studies on digital rights management (DRM) have focused on security and encryption as a means of solving the issue of illegal copying by purchasers. In this paper, we propose a scheme that can adapt one DRMs DRM content to another DRMs DRM content in PAV (portable audio & video) device environments. The proposed DRM content adaptation is for making one DRM system use another DRMs DRM content which is protected by another DRM system.

Protection scheme for secure MPEG-2 streaming

Jeonghyun Kim; Yeonjeong Jeong; Kisong Yoon

In this paper, we propose a protection scheme for MPEG-2 streaming media. To protect MPEG-2 media more effectively and securely, an encryption process should be considered on encoding phase of uncompressed stream and also a streaming server should be designed to support the protection scheme. However this way cannot support existing streaming systems and requires pre-processing such as demultiplexing and decoding. Our approach is to design a protection scheme independent to the streaming server. So, we propose an encryption method which can be applied to compressed MPEG-2 transport stream (TS). Proposed scheme can protect attacks over networks since streaming server streams pre-encrypted content and enables the client to decrypt the streamed data and playback in real time. Even though streamed content is stored in local system users who do not have available rights cannot use the encrypted content

The application of digital signage system using smart device

Jung Soo Lee; Kisong Yoon

Digital signage is a form of electronic display that shows information, advertising, messages, and TV programs in both public and private environments, including retail stores, hotels, and stations. We introduce another application of digital signage using smart devices. Unlike an existing digital signage displayed at a fixed location, the proposed digital signage system can see in anytime and anywhere using smart-devices if you can use a network service. And because the proposed system gives and takes the information(advertisement data) among smart-devices, the application user can be compensated according to the amount of data transferred to other smart-devices or the usage time of the application.

DRM Content Adaptation Between Different DRM Systems for Seamless Content Service

Do-Won Nam; Yeonjeong Jeong; Jihyun Park; Kisong Yoon

DRM is a technology to protect digital contents from unauthorized access and to control the way a user consumes his content. Although modern DRM technologies carry out their duty very well as a protector of copyrighted contents but users face different problem, inconvenience due to the lack of interoperability between DRM systems. We have suggested a scheme to exchange DRM-protected contents between heterogeneous DRM systems by providing content exchange format not bound to specific DRM system. In this paper, we address the limitations of previous work and suggest a new content exchange scheme to solve the problem.

Software-based encoder for UHD digital signage system

Sungwon Moon; Jungsoo Lee; Jun Seob Lee; Hyotaeg Jung; Kisong Yoon

With the rapid growth of the digital signage industry, high resolution video contents are used for digital signage. In this situation, advertisers want to use UHD video contents to advertise their product. In this paper, we propose a software-based encoder for UHD digital signage contents which can divide frames into appropriate form for the layout of a digital signage display system and manage quality of divided frames.

A Novel Digital Signage Content Propagation Method using a Smart-phone Application

Jungsoo Lee; Jeong-Woo Lee; Kisong Yoon

Digital signage is a form of electronic display that shows information, advertising, messages, and TV programs in both public and private environments, including retail stores, hotels, and stations. Its contents are usually displayed in a fixed location. In addition, many people view the displayed content or interact with it. We therefore propose a novel digital signage content propagation method where the user plays an important role in viewing the signage content when desired, interacting with their own device, and delivering the signage content using their smart-phone where an application has been installed. Additionally, the application user can be compensated according to the amount of data transferred to other smartphones or the usage time of the application. Given these characteristics, the proposed system is thought to be superior compared to the existing advertising systems in terms of advertising effectiveness
