ELEVATION AND ARRANGEMENT OF BUILDINGS SURROUNDING OPEN SPACES IN UNIVERSITY CAMPUSES IN CHINA

This study aims to clarify the characteristics of scenery formed by the elevation and arrangement of buildings surrounding open spaces in university campuses in China. Open spaces faced by main buildings and enclosed by buildings are extracted as “campus open spaces (COS)” from 54 campuses built before 1949, and elevations facing to COS are extracted as scenery forming elements. By analyzing and categorizing the phase and distribution of buildings, comparison of building style and color, arrangement of buildings, and the comparison of building volumes, 12 scenery patterns are found, and various characteristics of scenery formation in campus open spaces formed by buildings built in different phases under the distinctive cultural and social background in China are clari ed.

TRANSFORMATION OF OPEN SPACES RELATED TO THE SITE ENVIRONMENT IN UNIVERSITY CAMPUSES IN CHINA

The aim of this study is to clarify the transformation of open spaces related to the site environment in university campuses in China. Open spaces faced by main buildings and enclosed by buildings or environmental elements are extracted as “campus open spaces (COS)” from 54 campuses built before 1949. The formation of COS is divided into four phases according to the historical background in China. By analyzing and categorizing the shape, number, arrangement of COS, and the environmental elements related to COS in each phase, 6 composition patterns and 16 transformation types are found, and the distinctive spatial characteristics and transformation in uenced by cultural and social background in China are clari ed.

CLUSTER-LAYOUT FOR GENERIC PHARMACEUTICAL MANUFACTURING FACILITY

The generic products have been rapidly developed in the pharmaceutical market and are requesting a new manufacturing layout and system rational to many kinds but small volume products. It is concluded that the proposed “Cluster-layout Concept” based on a cluster, dimensioned in module, which consists of five rooms, an inner corridor, and a preparation room, is one of most suitable process configuration through the comprehensive study in comparison with a conventional grouping layout , a stand-alone equipment layout and a simple line layout.
