Interaction of Water with Cellulose and Cellulose Acetates as Influenced by the Hydrogen Bond System and Hydrophilic-Hydrophobic Balance of the Macromolecules

A. M. Bochek; L. M. Kalyuzhnaya

Interaction of cellulose and cellulose acetates of different degrees of substitution with water, ethanol, and chloroform was studied by the sorption technique. The factors determining the solubility in water of cellulose acetates with degrees of substitution varied in a narrow range were studied.

Compatibility of carboxymethyl cellulose ionized to various degrees with poly-N-vinylformamide in composite films

A. M. Bochek; I. L. Shevchuk; I. I. Gavrilova; N. A. Nesterova; E. F. Panarin; V. E. Yudin; M. F. Lebedeva; E. N. Popova; L. M. Kalyuzhnaya; B. Z. Volchek; E. N. Vlasova

Composite films were obtained from aqueous solutions of blends of carboxymethyl cellulose ionized to various degrees and poly-N-vinylformamide. The composition ranges in which the polymers are compatible were determined by solvent vapor sorption and by dynamic mechanical analysis. The heat resistance of the films and the interaction of the polymers in the solid state were examined by DSC, TGA, and Fourier IR spectroscopy.

Separation of aqueous isopropanol solutions by pervaporation using membranes based on composites of a polyimide with an aniline-anthranilic acid copolymer was studied.

Properties of solutions and films of blends of water-soluble cellulose ethers with poviargol

L. I. Kutsenko; Yu. G. Santuryan; I. V. Gofman; I. V. Abalov; L. M. Kalyuzhnaya; A. M. Bochek; E. F. Panarin

Rheological properties of moderately concentrated aqueous solutions of blends of methyl cellulose and carboxymethyl cellulose with Poviargol antiseptic (nanodispersed silver stabilized with polyvinylpyrrolidone) were studied. Composite films were prepared from solutions of the polymer blends, and the physicomechanical and thermomechanical properties of the films were examined. The region of thermodynamic compatibility of cellulose ethers with Poviargol was determined by the method based on sorption of solvent vapor.

Properties of Some Chitosan-containing Blends and Films Therefrom

N. G. Bel'nikevich; N. V. Bobrova; Sergei Bronnikov; L. M. Kalyuzhnaya; Tatiana Budtova

Mixed solutions of chitosan and polymers with different chain rigidities (polyvinyl alcohol and methyl cellulose) in 2% acetic acid, at various component ratios, were studied viscometrically. The compatibility of the components in solutions and in the solid phase was assessed, and the mechanical characteristics of films prepared from these blends were determined.

Properties of solutions and films of blends of ethyl cellulose with polyvinylpyrrolidone and Poviargol

L. I. Kutsenko; Yu. G. Santuryan; L. M. Kalyuzhnaya; I. V. Gofman; I. V. Abalov; A. M. Bochek; E. F. Panarin

Viscosity properties of dilute and concentrated ethanol solutions of blends of ethyl cellulose with polyvinylpyrrolidone and Poviargol bactericidal formulation (silver metal nanoparticles stabilized with polyvinylpyrrolidone) were studied. The physicomechanical and thermomechanical properties of films prepared from solutions of the polymer blends were determined. Experiments on solvent vapor sorption showed that ethyl cellulose is incompatible with polyvinylpyrrolidone and Poviargol in the solid state in the entire composition range examined.

Russian Journal of Applied Chemistry | 2008

Properties of blends of methyl cellulose and carboxymethyl cellulose with different degrees of ionization in solutions and solids

A. M. Bochek; I. L. Shevchuk; L. M. Kalyuzhnaya

The rheological properties of dilute and moderately concentrated aqueous solutions of methyl cellulose with carboxymethyl cellulose having different degrees of ionization, were examined. The solvent vapor sorption method was applied to examine the compatibility of the polymers in the solid state and elucidate how the amount of nonionized carboxy groups in carboxymethyl cellulose affects its compatibility with methyl cellulose.

Russian Journal of Applied Chemistry | 2006

Properties of aqueous solutions of methyl cellulose-polyvinyl alcohol blends

A. M. Bochek; I. L. Shevchuk; L. M. Kalyuzhnaya

Rheological properties of dilute and moderately concentrated aqueous solutions of methyl cellulose-polyvinyl alcohol blends, as well as the conditions of gelation in these solutions were studied. The compatibility of the polymers was examined by the solvent vapor sorption method; the range of the compositions corresponding to thermodynamic compatibility of methyl cellulose and polyvinyl alcohol was identified.

Compatibility of carboxymethyl cellulose with hydroxypropyl cellulose in composite films based on them

L. M. Kalyuzhnaya; A. M. Bochek; I. L. Shevchuk

Sorption of water vapor by composite films consisting of hydroxypropyl cellulose and carboxymethyl cellulose with different degrees of ionization was studied. The composition ranges in which the polymers are compatible and the influence exerted by the degree of ionization of carboxymethyl cellulose on its compatibility with hydroxypropyl cellulose were determined. The character of the polymer–polymer–water (common solvent) interaction in ternary systems was analyzed, and the state of sorbed water in the polymer matrix was considered within the framework of theories of group contributions and clusterization.

Properties of aqueous solutions of blends of polyvinyl alcohol with carboxymethyl cellulose ionized to various extents

A. M. Bochek; I. L. Shevchuk; L. M. Kalyuzhnaya

The rheological properties of dilute and moderately concentrated aqueous solutions of blends of polyvinyl alcohol with carboxymethyl cellulose ionized to various extents were studied. The thermodynamic compatibility of solid polymer blends was studied by the method of solvent vapor sorption, and the influence of the amount of non-neutralized carboxy groups in carboxymethyl cellulose on its compatibility with polyvinyl alcohol was examined.
