Ophthalmoscopy performed for the early diagnosis of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is painful for preterm infants, thus necessitating interventions for minimizing pain. The present study aimed to establish the effectiveness of human milk, compared with sucrose, for pain relief in premature infants subjected to ophthalmoscopy for the early diagnosis of ROP. This investigation was a pilot, quasi-experimental study conducted with 14 premature infants admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) of a university hospital. Comparison between the groups did not yield a statistically significant difference relative to the crying time, salivary cortisol, or heart rate (HR). Human milk appears to be as effective as sucrose in relieving acute pain associated with ophthalmoscopy. The studys limitations included its small sample size and lack of randomization. Experimental investigations with greater sample power should be performed to reinforce the evidence found in the present study.

Objective: to identify the profile of attitudes towards death in undergraduate students from in the health science area. Method a cross-sectional study performed with undergraduates from six healthcare courses of a public university in the Federal District. The Death Attitude Profile Assessment Scale and a sociodemographic questionnaire were applied. Results a total of 1,005 students participated in the study. The neutral acceptance attitude obtained higher average scores among the undergraduate students, higher averages in the fear of death dimension are presented in younger students and lower means of avoidance of death in older students, who attended the first semester of the undergraduate course. The acceptance and approach acceptance dimensions obtained higher averages in male undergraduate students. It was observed that 59.9% of the participants had no prior experience of loss and 75.4% reported not having participated in any discussions about death or dying. Conclusion: based on the results found in the research, the need for discussions on the subject of death and dying beginning in the first semesters in undergraduate courses is reinforced, this is in order to provide a positive attitude towards death and future health professionals exercise their care in a more qualified manner.

The choice of the birth route may occur prior to gestation or until the time of delivery. Many factors go through this decision making process, which can trigger symptoms such as anxiety not only in the pregnant woman, but also in her social circle [1]. At the beginning of pregnancy, this choice is usually marked by socioeconomic factors, previous childbirth experiences, the sociocultural context of the woman and information about the types of childbirth. During pregnancy, factors such as clinical obstetric complications, medical or family suggestion, and new information acquired by the pregnant woman may influence and / or modify their choice. At the time of delivery, the care received and the evolution of labor are the factors that most influence the final decision on the preference of the way of delivery [1].
