Glutamic dehydrogenase and lactic dehydrogenase can still be reversibly inhibited by oxanilates and salicylates bearing bulky groups necessary for giving the hypothetically possible exo-alkylating type of irreversible inhibition. In addition, several new types of effective reversible inhibitors have been found such as the quinolone-carboxylic acids, coumarin-3-carboxylic acid, coumarilic acid and 1,3-indanedione.
