Modeling of tacit knowledge in industry

Work objective was to map tacit knowledge into agents of the manufacturing process.It was possible to map the known type to be elicited by the use of Pareto Chart tool.The mapping of critical issues before the decision to elicit tacit knowledge.Bayesian networks based on production rules to predict adverse situations in process. The paper presents the application of a Technical Mapping and tacit knowledge elicitation in industry in order to promote the modeling of tacit knowledge to explicit and represent it in the form of production rules for use in manufacturing processes. The technique was applied with the involved people in the lithographic process in a Metallurgical Company located in southern Brazil. Knowledge of two production coordinators were modeled. For the process of knowledge acquisition and mapping of attributes and values to feed the knowledge base of an expert system, were used quality tools such as Brainstorming, Pareto Chart and Ishikawa Diagram associated with knowledge elicitation techniques such as unstructured interview, rating chips, observation technique, limitation of information and protocol analysis. Quality tools and techniques of knowledge elicitation were systematized to promote process mapping and the elicitation of tacit knowledge, with the aim of representing knowledge by means of production rules. We constructed two knowledge bases with the same methods of production, one in a non-probabilistic expert system (knowledge-based system) and the other in a probabilistic expert system (Bayesian networks) in order to perform comparisons and simulations of the results found. Expert systems perform systematic analysis from the answers given by those involved in lithographic labels process while the defect is identified in order to support the user in diagnosing the root cause of the failure process. From simulations of changes in process variables was possible to prove the hypothesis of the use of probabilistic expert system as industrial support tool in preventing the occurrence of defects in the process and result in a productivity gain.

Agentes Pedagógicos Emocionais atuando em um Ambiente Virtual de Aprendizagem

A aprendizagem e uma das atividades mais ricas desenvolvidas pelo homem. Assim, a utilizacao de novas tecnologias neste processo, como a computacao afetiva, e promissora. Na computacao afetiva, encontram-se os conhecimentos da psicologia e da ciencia cognitiva, sendo possivel estudar como os sistemas computacionais podem detectar, classificar e responder as emocoes humanas. Este artigo apresenta o desenvolvimento e a atuacao de dois agentes pedagogicos animados, expressando emocoes (tutor e companheiro), integrados em um ambiente virtual de aprendizagem, a fim de interagir com estudantes. O agente tutor Doris tem o papel semelhante a de um professor, identificando as caracteristicas de aprendizagem do estudante. O agente companheiro Dimi atua juntamente com o estudante na realizacao de atividades propostas pelo ambiente virtual, fornecendo dicas e desafios.

The use of process management based on a systemic approach

Purpose – The use of management processes based on a systemic approach in the management of organizations aims the perception of the organizations in a more comprehensive way, integrating the various activities through the verification of the horizontal vision of the customers satisfaction. But this perception is not easy to achieve. Methodology for acquisition of collective tacit knowledge used in diagnosis of defect cause in industrial processes

Purpose – The purpose of this paper was to build the MACTAK methodology, which aims to transform collective tacit knowledge into the explicit one using knowledge elicitation techniques, associated to quality tools structured by systemography, represent it in a symbolic language and production rules and model it in two expert systems which can assist the investigation of defect causes during the metal packaging production process. Design/methodology/approach – The method applied in the research was classified as exploratory, because a preliminary study was conducted, to better suit the mapping methodology for eliciting collective tacit knowledge, to the reality which was intended to be known. Indicadores de desempenho no modelo de gestão BSC: uma investigação nas vinícolas da região da campanha gaúcha

O segmento da vitivinicultura esta em plena expansao na regiao da Campanha, no Estado do Rio Grande do Sul – Brasil. Gestores que atuam neste segmento precisam, cada vez mais, de ferramentas que os auxiliem no processo de gestao estrategica. Uma das principais ferramentas utilizada mundialmente para isto e o Balanced Scorecard (BSC) , que utiliza indicadores de desempenho, em diferentes perspectivas organizacionais, como forma sistemica de avaliacao. Assim, a pesquisa tinha como objetivo investigar a utilizacao de indicadores de desempenho no modelo de gestao BSC, nas vinicolas da regiao da Campanha Gaucha. Para tanto, um estudo exploratorio e descritivo, de carater quantitativo e qualitativo foi desenvolvido, sendo possivel observar que estas vinicolas utilizam, majoritariamente, indicadores da perspectiva financeira da empresa, deixando outros aspectos e perspectivas importantes, em segundo plano. Foi constatado tambem que a qualidade na gestao nao depende da quantidade de indicadores utilizados, mas sim da correta utilizacao dos mesmos.

A model for Lean and Green integration and monitoring for the coffee sector

Abstract Companies have been under pressure from different sectors of society to make their processes more environmentally sustainable, a fact that drives the joint adoption of Lean and Green production systems. Studies relating these systems have intensified in the past decade and follow a growth trend. However, this can be considered a relatively new field with many gaps to be filled. One of these gaps is found in the agricultural sector, where no studies relating Lean and Green have been identified. The main contribution of this article is to develop a model for the evaluation of the integration of Lean and Green systems (Lean Green Synergy – LGS) through the formulation of a conceptual framework. In order to demonstrate the viability of the model, a case study was carried out on a set of six specialty coffee producing properties, located in the state of Quindio, Colombia. The research carried out provides a non-subjective means to establish the maturity of the Lean and Green systems and establishes 20 metrics capable of providing the information necessary to carry out the LGS calculations. The calculation method described allows the replication of the model and its adaptation to other sectors by defining the appropriate metrics for it, encouraging the joint adoption of Lean and Green systems.

Indicadores para sustentabilidade organizacional em empresas da região do Pampa gaúcho: um estudo exploratório

Sustainability is a term in the business world, which is in evidence due to the requirement of the consumer society that values organizations with sustainable profiles. In the agribusiness sector, it is even more obvious that the importance of production models need to be concerned about the social, economic and environmental issues. This work aims to identify the main economic, social and environmental indicators used in companies in the agribusiness sector in order to ensure they follow the systems purpose and the Triple Botton Line (TBL). In order to achieve this, an exploratory and descriptive research was conducted to define sustainability indicators and to analyze the use of them. Data were collected through a questionnaire sent to 30 branch companies studied. The main results show the lack of knowledge of the essence of sustainability concepts and their importance. About relative sustainability, in most cases, their sustainable actions in organizations are focused on responding to the environmental laws of their industry. One can also see imbalance in the defined dimensions in TBL, showing a clear trend towards greater control over the financial aspect.

Hierarchy the sectorial performance indicators for Brazilian franchises

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to study the level of importance existing among the indicators that were previously defined for a Performance Measurement Systems (PMS) and are relative to franchises in Brazil, using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) methodology, together with a series of tests, which are responsible by verifying the degree of reliability, robustness and stability of the parameters used and the results obtained. As a result, the author suggests that the diagnosing of the five delimited indicators have different relevance assigned to them. Design/methodology/approach – This paper reviews extant literatures in Franchise, PMS, Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM), in specific the theory about AHP. O impacto das práticas do Desenvolvimento Enxuto de Produtos no desempenho das grandes empresas do setor automotivo

Esse artigo tem como objetivo avaliar o impacto das praticas do Desenvolvimento Enxuto de Produtos no setor automotivo brasileiro. Foi enviado um questionario com 23 questoes aos envolvidos no processo de 48 grandes empresas do setor, sendo que 22 responderam (taxa de retorno 46%). Identificou-se que embora o setor automotivo seja visto como referencia na adocao de praticas enxutas, ainda ha potencial de melhorias em estabelecer relacoes de parceria com os fornecedores, assim como a outra ponta da cadeia: identificar o valor do cliente. A Engenharia Simultânea Baseada em Conjuntos (SBCE) tambem e uma pratica que precisa ser melhor desenvolvida, assim como o uso da ferramenta Mapeamento do Fluxo de Valor (MFV) para identificar os desperdicios e atividades que agregam valor no Processo de Desenvolvimento de Produtos. A partir do diagnostico, e possivel replicar as questoes para outros setores. O valor do trabalho esta nos resultados que permitem diagnosticar quais as praticas do Desenvolvimento Enxuto que sao mais utilizadas no setor automotivo. Ainda, as questoes da survey podem ser aplicadas em outros setores da economia e tamanhos de empresas. O tratamento estatistico afirmou a coerencia interna do instrumento de pesquisa atraves do Alfa de Cronbach. O estudo contribui para uma visao sistemica do Processo de Desenvolvimento de Produtos, sob a otica de Pessoas, Processo e Tecnologia, alem de auxiliar as empresas e a academia na gestao das mudancas.
