Diagnosing Organizational Culture for SME Performance

Adriana Tidor; Cristian Gelmereanu; Paul Baru; Liviu Morar

Abstract The purpose of this paper is to show the importance of organizational culture in achieving performance in Romanian small and medium enterprises SMEs. The method of research used was the survey. The instrument used was the questionnaire elaborated first on paper and then using Google Docs application. This application can become an important tool for any manager so that they become conscient of the culture of their organization. The main idea is that after the employees complete the online questionnaire the manager can receive a complete report about the answers, underlyining the weaknesses and strengths of the organizational culture according to the answers. This evaluation is very important because they can compare the results with other companies in the field and can discover opportunities for competitive advantage. After this phase of the research if the manager wishes we can provide him with a set of strategies to mend the problems, the weaknesses. This step is very important because many researches regarding organizational culture just diagnose the type of culture but do not offer solutions for the problems. Along with the comparison regarding the strengths and weaknesses in the organizational culture the authors propose a comparison regarding financial performance indicators. In the end the authors try to find a relation between these performance indicators and the organizational features evaluated.

Aspects Regarding some Simulation Models for Logistic Management

Emilia Campean; Liviu Morar; Paul Baru; Calin Bordea; Dumitru Pop

Abstract The main purpose of the paper is to develop a neural network application that could predict supplier problems in terms of stock management, lead time and production. Stocks of goods that manufacturers would classify as raw materials stocks are, in a special sense, goods in early stages of the production process. In a logic-based economic competitiveness, the company which holds the largest stock is underperforming! Technically, the stock is inevitable and in some cases even desirable; economically it is associate with an asset value stock, therefore, it should be minimized. Minimizing the value, the costs will also be minimized.

Productivity and Cycle Time Prediction Using Artificial Neural Network

Cristian Gelmereanu; Liviu Morar; Stefan Bogdan

Abstract The main purpose of the paper is to develop a neural network application that could predict the cycle time for High Speed Machining. Increase productivity by increasing the speed of process has been imposed by the cutting progresses theory and the fields related directly to the cutting process. Thus, this procedure aims to an increasing productivity, lowering costs and execution time and also improving the quality of parts.

Productive Performance Analysis in Machinery Industry Using Malmquist Index

Ionela Tanase; Liviu Morar

Finding productive performance of a producer is a topical issue on the basis of which has been and are done a large number of research. Currently there are several productive performance measurement techniques detailed in various forms, among which the most used are the efficiency and the productivity. The work presents the comparative measurement of the efficiency and productivity for a processing activity of specific products from machines constructions, organized in several enterprises in the area of N-V of Romania, between the intervals 2005-2010. This study uses data envelopment analysis (DEA) to measure the utilization capacity in six enterprises. Malmquist index method used in this research indicates that there is the tendency to increase or decrease the productivity and efficiency of the studied enterprises. Identification of positive or negative trend productive performance can be used to prepare a strategy of reducing inefficiencies and improving effectiveness of production process. Specifically, this study quantifies the level of technical efficiency and technical change in this particular manufacturing sector.

Dynamic analysis of a kinematic axis with electromechanical controller

Cornel Ciupan; Liviu Morar

Abstract The paper presents the mathematical model of a kinematic axis with ac motor drive and servo drive controller. The servo drive controller is composed of a differential mechanism and a speed variator. The influence of the load on the differential mechanism input elements will be analysed. In other papers, the authors analysed the behaviour of an ideal controller. In this paper was realised a mathematical model in which it was take in account the shift and the efficiency. Using numerical methods, the differential equation will be solved and as a result, the response of the system for different input signals.

The Mathematical Model of Abrasive Waterjet Milling Process

Cornel Ciupan; A. Pop; Liviu Morar

The paper presents the mathematical model of abrasive waterjet milling process. Based on analysis of existing models the authors realize a new mathematical model, considering some simplifying hypothesis. This model uses output data from model [1] and determines the advance speed, the consumption of the abrasive and the productivity of the process. To establish the productivity of the process and the advance speed we’ll use the “energy preservation” model. This model takes in account the material characteristics. The mathematical model has been solved numerical and the results have been interpreted.

The Influence of Changes in Customer's Technology Portfolio on Supplier's Organization

Constantin Adrian Liche; Liviu Morar; Emilia Campean

This research paper studies the influence of the changes in customers technology portfolio on suppliers organization in the context of the customers merger with another company. By using Fuzzy Cognitive Maps and taking into account the perceptions of 23 members of the supplier organization, by drawing and analyzing the causality of 63 factors involved in the change situation, it provides an indication about the most important aspects which had to be considered by suppliers management for minimizing the negative impact of the changes occurring on the customers side. A qualitative simulation of the supplier system is done in order to verify its evolution under different scenarios. Besides the theoretical aspects related to Fuzzy Cognitive Maps the paper provides recommendations for managing similar situations.

A Fuzzy Cognitive Maps Approach for Analyzing the Integration of Two Organizations of the Same Corporation

Constantin Adrian Liche; Liviu Morar; Emilia Campean

The research paper presents the result of a study on the integration of two organizations from the same corporation, both players in the IT and Communications field. The complex business transformation environment is analyzed using the Fuzzy Cognitive Maps method in order to enhance the organizational system model obtained in a previous research through Soft Systems Methodology. The perception of 23 stakeholders is modelled and their individual cognitive maps about the transformation are drawn. These maps are transformed into individual adjacency matrices which are later augmented to form a social cognitive map containing 78 variables specific to the researched situation. The structure of the social cognitive map is analysed using graph theory and different evolution scenarios are simulated through neuronal network computation. The researchers will benefit from following the research method while the practioners will be offered generalised conclusions which can be considered in managing similar situations.

Contributions Regarding the Possibility of Increasing the Milling Process Efficiency

Cristian Gelmereanu; Stefan Bogdan; Liviu Morar

The main purpose of the paper is to develop a neural network application that could predict the tool-workpiece vibration. Increase efficiency by decreasing vibrations has been imposed by the cutting progresses theory and the fields related directly to the cutting process. Thus, this procedure aims to an increasing efficiency, lowering costs and execution time and also improving the quality of parts.

Procurement Approaches in Different Supply Chains

Stefan Pap; Liviu Morar

From a purchasing point of view, it can be argued that in order for a supply chain to be efficient the cost of purchasing must be balanced with risk pertaining to the supply market and the purchased product. To decide on the appropriate forms of supplier relationships today, we argue that there are three main dimensions to be considered: A more complex environment. Supply chain efficiency. Product life cycle.
