Feifei Wu; Ruiyu Li; Lucheng Huang; Hong Miao; Xin Li

With the rise in new energy industries, electrochemical energy storage, which plays an important supporting role, has attracted extensive attention from researchers all over the world. To trace the electrochemical energy storage development history, determine the research theme and evolution path, and predict the future development directions, this paper will use CitNetExplorer to draw citation chronology charts and study the development trends in this field by analysing data downloaded from the Web of Science database. The results indicate that the research in this field originated from the study on energy storage materials and gradually divided into two major fields: energy storage materials and applications after 2000. The research on the energy storage materials refers to activated carbon materials, carbon nanotubes, graphene, and mesoporous carbon materials. Energy storage applications mainly focus on power systems, new energy vehicles, and wind farm dispatch. For research on electrochemical energy storage materials, the industrialization of graphene may become a new trending topic, and the application research will turn to the construction of energy Internet systems in the future. This paper will provide a full map for the development of electrochemical energy storage and forecast the future research directions in this field.

Roadmapping for industrial emergence and innovation gaps to catch-up: a patent-based analysis of OLED industry in China

Xin Li; Yuan Zhou; Lan Xue; Lucheng Huang

In recent years, emerging technologies have been attracting increasing attention, especially when those technology-follower countries attempt to develop new technology-based industries that contribute to their global innovation competitiveness. This paper proposes a framework for strategising and planning the emerging technologies-based industry in developing countries like China. This framework addresses three key issues for the technology-followers: 1) the significant capability gaps to catching-up in innovation; 2) the future external environment factors that may influence the innovation gaps; 3) the strategic development pathways that reduce these gaps. This framework integrates traditional roadmapping workshops and patent analysis. The organic light emitting diode (OLED) industry in China is selected as a case study. This study will contribute to the roadmapping and innovation catch-up literature, and will be of interest to OLED industry researchers.

Influencing Factors Analysis of 3D Printing Technology Diffusion Across Industries

Yuanyuan Shi; Lucheng Huang

With the rapid development of technology, growing number of technology diffusion not only appears among different technology sectors, but also appears among different industry sectors. It shows high level of complexity. The influencing factors of technology diffusion is complicated and gradually become a hot academic research field. We take the 3D printing technology as the research object, using patent citation data computing industry association strength and building the VAR model that including the factors of technology diffusion degree, R&D investment, R&D organization, R&D staff, and market capacity. By collecting data from related statistical yearbook, conduct Granger causality test, impulse response and variance decomposition analysis to the above model. The empirical results show that volatility of the technology diffusion is influenced by itself and R&D investment, R&D organization, R&D staff, and market capacity. This effect is of certain continuity, but the influences of different factors on the technology diffusion have great difference.

Twitter Data Mining for the Social Awareness of Emerging Technologies

Xin Li; Qianqian Xie; Lucheng Huang; Zhou Yuan

With the rapid development of Internet and information technology, social media has been growing fast. A large amount of social awareness data which represent the publics sensing and response to emerging technologies contained in social media, such as Twitter. By analyzing and mining the social awareness data to early detect the future trend of emerging technologies and identify the commercial potential of emerging technologies are crucial for government research and development strategic planning, social investment and enterprises practices. For this reason, this paper proposes a method to analyze the social awareness of emerging technologies based on Twitter data mining. Firstly, the natural language processing module in Thomson Data Analyzer is applied to extract the keywords from the tweets. Secondly, the social awareness information is analyzed by applying text mining and social network analysis, then, the social awareness of emerging technologies is mined by using time-slicing-based awareness information map. Finally, the perovskite solar cells technology is as a case study to analyze the effectiveness and feasibility of the method.

Dynamic Network Analysis of Inter-Firm R&D Cooperation Based on Internet Information: A Case Study of Google

Feifei Wu; Qian Li; Xin Li; Lucheng Huang; Xiaoli Wang

With the implementation of Chinas innovative national development strategy, R&D cooperation has become an important way to enhance technological innovation capability of enterprises. Inter-firm R&D cooperation promote enterprises to obtain complementary knowledge and ability, and has an important impact on technological innovation and development of enterprises. However, as a result of the variability of enterprise strategies and external environment, inter-firm R&D cooperation network presents the dynamic change. The purpose of this paper is to examine the evolutionary dynamics of inter-firm R&D cooperation network. This paper takes Google as a focal firm, using Internet information to construct R&D cooperation network. Then we use Dynamic Network Analysis to explore the characteristics of network structure including time, scale, pattern and technology. Firstly, clustering of partners with the same cooperative content in three different stages. Secondly, we try to take Standard Industrial Classification to conduct industrial division of cooperative enterprises. Thirdly, the establishment time of the cooperative enterprise is analyzed statistically. Finally, we summarize and analyze the overall evolutionary features of Google R&D cooperative network according to the research. The results suggest that Google R&D cooperation is based on its technological innovation advantages, the R&D cooperation between Google and Google partners enable both of them to take advantage of complementary capabilities, facilitate product development and technology integration for an enhanced market share. In addition, at the different stages of development of Google, the selection of cooperative enterprises is changing and it reflects there is a certain cooperation standard when Google initially chooses a partner.

Analysis on Evolution and Frontier Research of Selective Catalyst Reduction Technology for Diesel Engine Based on Bibliometrics

Lucheng Huang; Xiaoli Wang; Feifei Wu; Qian Li

Diesel engines are widely used in medium and heavy vehicles because of higher dynamic performance and lower oil consumption. However, the problems about pollution of diesel exhaust emission begin to stand out. Selective Catalytic Reduction Technology is one of the main methods of emission treatment of diesel-engine applications. This paper uses the literatures which are retrieved from the Web of Science as data source. With the information visualization software Citespace, exploring the development trend of the Selective Catalyst Reduction Technology for diesel engine. Through keywords burst detection to determine hot words of frontier topics; and building heterogeneous clustering network of keywords and co-citation literatures to reveal the frontier framework. Finally, retrieving innovative literatures based on frontier knowledge and co-citation literature clusters; then refining frontier topics of the Selective Catalyst Reduction Technology. The results show that current research on SCR technology for diesel engine is focused on the load, performance and denitrification efficiency of copper supported on different carriers. The research on enhancing the resistance to H2O and anti-SO2 of SCR catalyst at low temperature is also the focus of SCR technology study. Besides, it is also actively exploring the optimization and improvement of control strategy for SCR aftertreatment system.
