Luiz Miguel Picelli Sanches; Rodrigo Jensen; Maria Inês Monteiro; Maria Helena Baena de Moraes Lopes

This descriptive study aimed to verify the inclusion of subjects about informatics in undergraduate nursing programs at Brazilian (state and federal) public education institutions. The programs were located through the e-MEC system. The Internet was used to search for the curricula of the campuses offering the nursing program and identify subjects related to informatics. Eighty-one higher education institutions and 123 campuses were located. Only 100 campuses provided the curriculum on the Internet, 35 of which offered the subject. The highest proportion occurred in the Northeast (46.1%) and the lowest in the North (8.6%). The subject is mostly offered as an elective discipline (57%) in the first and second year (80%), with an average workload of 47 classroom hours. The low supply of this undergraduate subject goes against job market trends and the National Curriculum Guidelines for Undergraduate Nursing Programs.

This study aimed to identify the immediate and late complications of temporary and permanent catheters for hemodialysis in a nephrology service. This is an exploratory-descriptive study with quantitative approach, performed in a Nephrology center that is reference in the State and located in Recife/Pernambuco. The sutdy was conducted in the period from April to September 2015 using an instrument developed by the authors, consisting of socio-demographic and clinical data. The study included 40 patients who had a total of 57 complications. The most frequent immediate complication was hematoma (33.4%) and the most common late complication was decreased blood flow (46.1%). Results led to conclude that the nursing staff, in particular, should be alert to the occurrence of complications. For this, it is suggested that training and continuing education be developed as a way to improve the performance of the nursing staff before any sort of problem related to catheters for hemodialysis. Key words: Complications; Catheters; Renal dialysis; Nephrology.

Telehealth services in the State of Pernambuco, Brazil are led by the Telehealth Center (RedeNUTES) and based on HealthNet 2.0 software. Among the tele-assistance services, health professionals have clinical discussions focused on second opinions. This paper reports the experience in a PhD study through mixed-methods, to evaluate the telehealth services, planning and modeling a new tool to improve a telehealth system. We described the nurses role in each phase of this study. The method of User-Centered Design was explored in three phases as Identification of work process, Users perception and collaborative modeling, Observational usability study. The main frame was based on collaborative techniques as Collaborative Prototype Design Process, cognitive walkthrough, and thinking-aloud. The users also identified all usability problems identified by the evaluators. The methods were useful in identifying usability problems, and easy to employ using standard equipment and software thus a relatively low cost approach to usability testing.

Objective: to analyze the methodology of Central Venous Pressure measurement in Intensive Care Units of public hospitals in the city of Recife-PE identifying the External Reference Point. Method: this is a study of observation with the participation of 36 health professionals from nine public hospitals. The data was collected with a device validated by experts, after approved by the Ethics and Research Committee of Agamenon Magalhães Hospital, under protocol N° 54, CAAE-1219.0.000.236-10. Results: 41% declared that they had not received training; 39% did not perform hand washing and 75% did not use a level indicator to confirm the phlebostatic axis. There was no identification for the solution in use (94%) or the equipment (67%). The prevalent External Reference Point was the External Line, but there was not a standard among these hospitals. Performing this analysis descriptively, it was noticed that the nurses had a better performance compared to the average of the nursing assistants, as well as between hospital staff that presented manual of standards and routines compared to those in institutions that had not been working with the manual. Conclusion: taking into consideration the public institutions surveyed, the measurement was not performed properly, there was not a standardization of this procedure and many professionals reported the lack of training. There was even a gap between the training and the retraining of nursing staff. Descriptors: central venous pressure, nursing, continuing education, nursing practice guideline, intensive care units.
